Having read the criticism of these refs in NFL and the appalling US commentary, here is what I think.

The temp refs are fine and in some ways are better than the "full time" ones. People are only complaining of the new refs cos the american commentators on the US channels keep on going on about it. They scrutinise everything they do. The original refs made just as many errors as these lot but the comms don't really comment on their mistakes so you didn't get it rammed up your throat every 5 minutes. The only thing that is worse about these guys are that they are sometimes a bit slower with their decisions sometimes.

One significant advantage I've noticed is that these refs are also a lot less biased (haven't been bought yet) and give a lot more penalties to the home teams whereas the original refs were always heavily favoring the home side.

I'm just saying that this is what you get when you try to have someone who isn't qualified for a job do the same job. they're doing their best i'm sure, but it clearly isn't good enough and nfl management needs to do something.

well yes I know what you are saying....nfl has to take responsibility for this but the refs shouldnt be doing the job if they dont feel they are up to doing it.

Last night was the final nail imo unfair on them as there not qualified for the job in a profeesional basis but its ruining a highly run professional outfit. fair enuff the real refs make bad calls but the replacements seemed to be scared to throw the flags in the 1st quarter but once they do they never stop as for instance the pats raven game the other night. the refs helped the ravens across the line with some massive bad calls at crucial times.

There's most certainly a degree of truth in the OP. Calls are now being scrutinised far more than they ever were, because nobody likes a scab! People will ALWAYS scrutinize the quality of 'stand ins' or scabs in any place of work during a strike.

No, they aren't as efficient on the whole, but they're also getting a few things right that the others were not.

All said, I'd still rather have the the others back. Not...entirely....sure why though! I've been fcked over by those **** before too!

every play cant be reviewable so there will always be human error but last night was riduclous and had the pros been officaiting the call wud never of stood. it cud have a massive impact on the season for gb as its a 2 game swing cud cost them no1 or 2 nfc seeding or even cost them a playoff place.

They made a big big mistake. Thats bad enough, but to review it and still get it wrong is totally unacceptable. Everybody in the world knew it was an error, except thos couple of clowns. At least the guy who signalled touchback can hold his head up today.
