I see that the BBC have been awarded monday night football......but only on the red button or online

Seriously you have to wonder if the BBC were the only people who bid for it. When you say it's going to be online, does that mean it will be on iPlayer?
No.....it says specific UK related content will be in the show

having nfl free to air in 30 million homes, they've done it with c5 before
and the UK also gets the late Sunday games in Channel 4, is that also a privilege?

The BBC are that bothered about the game they've stuck it on the red button .....where they're gonna get no casual viewers, anyone surfing the channels at that time of night are not even gonna know there's a game on.

lix.....if no viewers tune into the sport do you think television channels will keep televising it....i would think the more viewers the better.
there are 4 BBC channels surely one of them could make way for MNF ...

Don' know what everyone is moaning about ... is here anyone out there that was paying £10 a month for ESPN that can't access the red button. Can't see how it will have any affect on liquidity. Besides what casual viewer is willing to sit through endless adverts at 2 in the morning to try and make heads or tails of American football. Sky draws the casual viewer but the late games are for the die hard punters.
totally agree with last poster. Great news. MNF comfy on the sofa instead of hunched over my TV for a dodgy stream. Jackpot :)

Considering the time slot and the inability to record red button options (at least on a sky box) - not the brightest bit of work.
Can I record it if I just have a free view TV and no SKY? If its on I PLayer that would be great but I cant imagine it will be!

So both Monday games on the red button. What on earth have espn got now, they still have the odd Premiership macth, but its not worth carrying on with them without any NFL

If I was sat ion the setee watching this I wouldnt be thrilled, the gaps without some analysis are irritating. But I`m was sat at a computer working, so it doesnt bother me. I suppose times are hard at the beeb, and paying for anything more than the action seems a waste. Still dont know why we just couldnt have the full American package - even including the adverts !

word on the 5 live NFL facebook page is there were no presenters because it was such short notice, and they'll get something sorted as time goes on:
"Simon Crosse Re presenters, I think that again due to the late notice it was a priority to get the game on this week with no time to contract presenters yet"
(AIUI, SC produces the 5 live radio coverage; he's not on the inside, but he's not totally out of the loop either)

Cameramen, lighting, sound, make-up, producers for starters. It's actually quite incredible C4 do it considering they show very few commercials to make it pay.
All for a show that will get a measly audience and a load of people to say "What's this American crap doing on the BBC"
I only want to see the game and we`re getting it for FREE, every play. All we are missing from the coverage across USA is the adverts - are we not? Americans getting exactly same coverage - are they not?

the sooner it goes back to espn the better....the same facts popping up on every break..dull coverage
The coverage feels abysmal. Really, it's alright, because it's just the same match coverage as Sky or Channel 4 give us. But the pregnant pauses and back-of-the****-packet stats, etc, they do make it feel amateurish. It's quite hard to watch at times.
Oh. And I've just worked out their pre-recorded interlude pieces actually mean their coverage gets further and further behind the actual coverage.
