including the pre-game show????
Report LostInBKK September 5, 2012 6:48 PM BST
Seriously you have to wonder if the BBC were the only people who bid for it. When you say it's going to be online, does that mean it will be on iPlayer?
Report grayhawk September 5, 2012 6:48 PM BST
No.....it says specific UK related content will be in the show Cry

Just means a dodgy stream until the game starts but no HD and no chance to record Cry
Report grayhawk September 5, 2012 6:51 PM BST
Streamed live on BBC website...says nowt about Iplayer.

I can't possibly think that ESPN didn't bid for it.

At least we have Sky for Sundays

Calling up Sky to cancel ESPN right now.
Report Nilsson Schmilsson September 5, 2012 6:57 PM BST
cant believe you've managed to find a reason to moan about this, it's brilliant news

(though i do suspect the nfl is paying for the privilage of being on the beeb)
Report LostInBKK September 5, 2012 6:59 PM BST
What privilege?
Report Nilsson Schmilsson September 5, 2012 7:01 PM BST
having nfl free to air in 30 million homes, they've done it with c5 before
Report LostInBKK September 5, 2012 7:03 PM BST
and the UK also gets the late Sunday games in Channel 4, is that also a privilege?
Report Nilsson Schmilsson September 5, 2012 7:04 PM BST
zzzzzzzz, i dont have time for this
Report LostInBKK September 5, 2012 7:07 PM BST
Sorry you don't have to explain what on earth you are going on about?
If the games are not on iPlayer then how can anyone watch them a decent time? When they were on C5 you could at least record it and watch it later.
Report grayhawk September 5, 2012 7:09 PM BST
Might be brilliant for you Nilsson.....not for me it isn't.

I'd rather it stayed on ESPN.

The BBC are that bothered about the game they've stuck it on the red button .....where they're gonna get no casual viewers, anyone surfing the channels at that time of night are not even gonna know there's a game on.
Report Lix September 5, 2012 7:20 PM BST
f cuk the casuals. who wants them anyway?
Report LostInBKK September 5, 2012 7:22 PM BST
or anyone who does not want to stay up late to see the games?
Report grayhawk September 5, 2012 7:37 PM BST
lix.....if no viewers tune into the sport do you think television channels will keep televising it....i would think the more viewers the better.
Report anton_chigurh September 5, 2012 7:46 PM BST
there are 4 BBC channels surely one of them could make way for MNF ...
Report grayhawk September 5, 2012 7:51 PM BST
You would think so Anton but they are saying its on the red button.
Report deeppockets September 5, 2012 8:34 PM BST
Don' know what everyone is moaning about ... is here anyone out there that was paying £10 a month for ESPN that can't access the red button.  Can't see how it will have any affect on liquidity.  Besides what casual viewer is willing to sit through endless adverts at 2 in the morning to try and make heads or tails of American football.  Sky draws the casual viewer but the late games are for the die hard punters.
Report I win every time! September 5, 2012 8:50 PM BST
totally agree with last poster. Great news. MNF comfy on the sofa instead of hunched over my TV for a dodgy stream. Jackpot :)
Report ClayDavis September 5, 2012 9:23 PM BST

Report HARRY22 September 5, 2012 10:25 PM BST

How much would it cost to chuck a couple of knowledgeable people in Andi Peters' Broom Cupboard?
Report themightymac September 11, 2012 5:04 AM BST

Report Pounf September 11, 2012 10:32 AM BST
If I was sat ion the setee watching this I wouldnt be thrilled, the gaps without some analysis are irritating. But I`m was sat at a computer working, so it doesnt bother me. I suppose times are hard at the beeb, and paying for anything more than the action seems a waste. Still dont know why we just couldnt have the full American package - even including the adverts !
Report grayhawk September 11, 2012 10:49 AM BST

how hard can it be to have two people in a little studio like channel 4 do
very poor indeed
Report viva el presidente! September 11, 2012 2:37 PM BST
word on the 5 live NFL facebook page is there were no presenters because it was such short notice, and they'll get something sorted as time goes on:

"Simon Crosse Re presenters, I think that again due to the late notice it was a priority to get the game on this week with no time to contract presenters yet"

(AIUI, SC produces the 5 live radio coverage; he's not on the inside, but he's not totally out of the loop either)

Cameramen, lighting, sound, make-up, producers for starters. It's actually quite incredible C4 do it considering they show very few commercials to make it pay.

All for a show that will get a measly audience and a load of people to say "What's this American crap doing on the BBC"

Report themightymac September 14, 2012 12:39 AM BST
I only want to see the game and we`re getting it for FREE, every play. All we are missing from the coverage across USA is the adverts - are we not? Americans getting exactly same coverage - are they not?
Report curious-cat September 17, 2012 1:57 AM BST

Report curious-cat September 25, 2012 1:37 AM BST
terrible coverage
Report Darlo Bantam September 25, 2012 3:00 AM BST
The coverage feels abysmal. Really, it's alright, because it's just the same match coverage as Sky or Channel 4 give us. But the pregnant pauses and back-of-the****-packet stats, etc, they do make it feel amateurish. It's quite hard to watch at times.
Report Darlo Bantam September 25, 2012 3:43 AM BST
Oh. And I've just worked out their pre-recorded interlude pieces actually mean their coverage gets further and further behind the actual coverage.
