In a run like that, when the bullpen has been worked hard over a series of games (or a club is carrying a lot of injuries) you might see a starter who gets hit about early, stay in and 'take one for the team' as the manager tries to rest the overworked arms or reconstitute the pen.
In the build up to a game, you'll sometimes hear that a starter really needs to go deep into the game. It's always worth checking out how a pen has been worked and who's likely to be available in relief. |

I was thinking the Toronto Boston game. Was thinking of running with Boston again but at 1.6 i layed them.
One worry is the potentially short staffed Toronto bull pen. Happy to take on the Boston bats and lester at 1.6 |

Covers.com will give you a full breakdown (including days' rest) of the bullpens.
My worry with Drabek would always be his WHIP. You just cannot give people free bases in the majors; offenses will likely as not exploit you, and to do that against a team hitting like Boston is asking for big trouble. With them on the road, a bet on the Bosox on the runline comes into play. |
