Auction League Draft Report 2011

I have just skimmed through all the teams and given a brief opinion. Apologies if I have "dissed" your team, its not personal and to be honest, why would you care? I perenially finish bottom 3 and have no clue how to draft as you can see from both teams this year. I also got pretty tired and rushed the last few lol.

The Soggy Biscuiters

Team may have been good 5 years ago but now too old and unreliable. (add injury prone too as well). Not enough Homers to compete, Reynolds, Bourne and Berkman will drag average down too much. Decent speed, decent saves. Rotation could be good but too many question marks plus the Team owner is a nob. Bottom Half. D

Greggs Pie

I dont like praising Uncle O. I really dont. But a lot of upside. He drafted fast and furious, but will the decision to punt saves be a good one. Power, speed, average, Wins, Ks. Its all there. Plus a lot of good options for the Util spot. Top5-6, and could be a challenger. Plus team owner is into Felching. B+

Clay Davis' Kickbacks

A Catcher away from a solid O. i love a lot of the guys here but worry bout the average. The Pitchers however could stop this team from competing. The ERA and WHIP wont b strong enough and there arent enough saves to keep this team afloat as Venters is sharing and Fuentes is likely to be temporary. Mid table. C

Harden the far Cup

Lippy drafted apallingly and should be ashamed. Paid way too much for Latos and Price. Seriously though, will be hard for this team to compete. SO many glaring holes and is purely the fault of autodraft. And Uncle O, who didnt help things things by constatly bidding up his players saying "Bollx to him, hes from New Zealand, they'll win the
Rugby World Cup".
In fairness to Lippy though he made us all smile by writing "Well that was a lot of f@@king good and logging out. Then coming back in 5 mins later : "ive calmed down now :)". For that, this team deserves an A+, but a bottom half finish looms. And New Zealand will also bottle the World Cup. We all appreciate the way you have handled this mate. A+

Thundercats

Drafted Offense Beautifully. Has everything to compete, and to top it off has 3 Premier 2b's. If Utley comes back mid May like projected, could well trade his way to title. To do that though, the pitching needs improvement. Ks and wins are ok but ERA and WHIP might not be good enough. Saves are dodgy but there. A contender if pitching holds up. B+

Minor Leaguers

Well, after the  big uproar about "the trade" (It was only our grumpy old, loveable Orioles, shouting angrily at the screen as he'd forgotten to take his pills), the Pitching looks very bare but whats there is strong!  Solid Saves, strong ERA and WHIP. Will MLers stream to compete in the Wins and Ks and risk the ERA and WHIP or hold steadfast like Fenway in the trading department (Here you go Fen: Take Pujols and give me Matt LaPorta. Fen: Ill see how  iget on thanks, but cheers for the offer).
V-Mart has definately made this team stronger. I worry bout his loss of Oswalt, Lidge and Rodney. Think the Pitching would have been the best I have seen and dominated most categories and left the team stong to trade later on. But its not my team and as you can see I have no clue. Overall, a very good team still and looks to compete everywhere except for SBs. Top 3 and a contender? I think so A

Yorkshire Cubbies

Two nice Closers, 3 decent SPs but im not sure there is enough here. Pena and Sizemore will drag average down (If Sizemore is fit and if not who plays OF here). There doesnt seem to be enough in any department to suggest troubling the big boys (big boys in the sense of best teams and not in the sense of the clubs Orioles frequents on Saturdays). Has 2 good DHs so could trade and make an improvement elsewhere. Mid table. C

Cabrera aint the Zobrist

Love the Pitching, Hitting seems average.Very strong SPs and Closers and they will keep this team competitive. Offence is unspectacular and will need Konerko and Bautista to bring the power. The Saves are there. One to watch. B

The Baseball Furies

Average, good, rest of O seems so so though. Love Linc and Liriano. Relievers good and some upside in Anibel Sanchez. Ks and wins will be there. I just cant get excited. C

The Monster Mashers

The forums angriest member seems to have everything. I cant pick many holes and should be there in most categories. Pitching will be serviceable. Drafted well. Shame! B

Too much drink? Call a Cabrera

Zimmerman and Miggy bring the power. But they really need too here. A lot of Speed though. Apart from Halladay, the SPs arent there. Saves are solid. Mid table? I have seen a lot of teams that I prefer. C

NoNos slammers

I love this team. Want to swap? The big names arent there, but the numbers are. If NoNo picks up saves off waivers, this team will be up there. Most rounded team. My early favourite. A+

Wahoo Sam

Hell of an OF and has surrounded these with good solid Batters. Saves will be good. Drafted well and deffo top half. I dont love theSPs but they will be serviceable. B

Welsh Dragonsox

2b/3b and SS are weak. Which is a real shame, as the rest of the hitters are good. Only one closer and hes starting the season injured and just two SPs make it a hard ask for the Dragonsox this year. Suprise suprise, Lester is on the staff. We all knew he would be :) . Mid table - bottom half imo. C

Spital Cadavers

Hitting Rocks. Enough power to carry the speedsters make this a well rounded attack minus the catcher. A lot of pitchers with a lot of upside and if League is closing, enough saves to stay competitive in that department. Another contender. B

Fukushima Heat

Another team i like. I seem to like too many here, my team is so f@@ked. Pujols is obviously the top dog, but theres so much speed here that the Heat could trade later on and give itself a real boost. Saves a plenty, pitchers with upside. Top half for sure B

Breakout Kings

Lots of speed, lots of power. Average will suck but otherwise looks good. Jeter loves to stream pitchers and if done so successfully, could have a shot. B
