Def in the elite group now with Brees, Manning and Brady. Cud possibly say he is the best of the lot with his mobility.

No one's better than Brady.

#2 in my book though, just.

I'm completely on my own but I'd make Rodgers far from elite. He's a good QB in an excellent system.

For mine - Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers and Roethlisberger are a cut above.

Rodgers is in the second tier of QBs, but I don't expect anyone else to share that opinion.
Report grayhawk January 16, 2011 2:55 AM GMT
Everyone's entitled to their opinion Moaner......but THAT system got to the play-offs with NO run game.
Report Money On7 January 16, 2011 2:55 AM GMT
i wouldnt make rothlisberger in the elite as he holds onto the ball and takes the sacks when others wud throw it away. Rivers has come on alot but the problem is he tends to throw in a few wobblers
Report Money On7 January 16, 2011 2:57 AM GMT
Give it a few years and with someone to throw to and bradford could be the best of all
Report The real Moaner January 16, 2011 3:01 AM GMT
But it did have a run game.

Not in the traditional sense, but if they had a 3rd and short - they converted, and the Packers were clever enough to look to take 8 or 9 yards on 1st or 2nd down when teams can generally play the first down marker.

I would have Manning, Brees and Brady in the elite.  Ben (you can't just dismiss those rings) and Rodgers next, with Rivers heading up the pack.

This is only Rodgers 3rd season,he's an impresive qb and at this stage is well on his way to the hall of fame,in fact at this rate he'll be marching to valhalla. Talk of him not being in that elite group of three is quite frankly twaddle ,he's a pure pocket passer in the vein of Manning but unlike the other three he can move outside the pocket, throw on the run and still maintain exceptional accuracy and velocity.

In short he's undefendable in much the same way michael vick can be but unlike vick he can actually pick up blitzes and adjust at the line of scrimmage.I applaud those visionarys who refuse to acknowledge greatness but the fact remains that he's setting records now and if he stays healthy he'll own all the major passing stats by the time he retires.

Rodgers not elite? Laugh Mate, you gotta get over your hatred of the Pack. All season they're average & overrate right?

You in a real hole with GB in presume. Bail out now fella. Not value at what odds???
Report dlarssonf January 16, 2011 12:31 PM GMT
he didn't say Rodgers wasn't elite.  He said "Rodgers is FAR from elite"  which is a laughable statement.  Either hates the packers or is massive red on themLaugh

Flacco and Ryan are both at the same level in their careers and Rodgers is streets ahead. He has got this team to the NFC conference game without a running game and a great tight end. The guy is so impressive it's untrue!
Report incaseof January 16, 2011 1:51 PM GMT
Flacco and Ryan 3rd year in the league, sure Rodgers 3rd year as a starter but still 6th year in the league. I'm a big Rodgers fan but give Ryan and Flacco a few more years and they could close in on Rodgers...but honestly Freeman and Bradford looks more promising than Ryan and Flacco as future elite QBs.

Packers team is the most talented team in NFL, hurt badly with injuries but still best group of receivers and best D with Steelers in the league...a bunch of QBs could take this Packers team to NFC conf final imo...however the standard of play from Rodgers since the last concussion has been ridiculous good.
Report horse9 January 16, 2011 2:07 PM GMT
I've been saying Rodgers is elite all season, last night he proved it beyond doubt.
That said it helps having 8 or 9 quality targets, their passing game is just awesome IMO.
He might need a ring or two and he might need to hold this level for a few yeas but I believe he will prove to be as good as Brady and Manning in time
Report the nugget January 16, 2011 4:28 PM GMT
Rodgers was the first QB to have a passer rating of over 120 in his first two play off starts, made it 3 last night Cool
Report the nugget January 16, 2011 4:30 PM GMT
Anyone find it slight amusing that Ryan went to the pro bowl and Rodgers didn't? Laugh
Report grayhawk January 16, 2011 4:45 PM GMT
Did you see the stats for the season.....shameful that he isn't there.....Ryan and Brees had far inferior stats.
Report incaseof January 16, 2011 4:54 PM GMT
Ryan deserved it imo, not Brees, Rodgers obviously did.
But Rodgers wasn't very good first 8-9 games of the season and first half of the season is big for the pro bowl...and well that one reason why pro bowl is such a joke.
Report the nugget January 16, 2011 4:56 PM GMT
Yes Brees didn't deserve to go despite the fact he absolutely no running game all season, neither did Rodgers. Rodgers played well early season considering all the issues with injuries the Packers had.
Report skyblues January 16, 2011 4:57 PM GMT
not sure if flacco will get to rodgers quality imo, but i agree with incaseoff i.e bradofrd and esp freeman. really like what freeman did at tampa and is one to keep an eye on for the future, esp his rapport with willams.
Report Kingmambo January 16, 2011 5:00 PM GMT
This elite stuff might be all semantics and dependent on your own interpretation of words.  To me elite indicates someone who has proven they can lead their team to be champions, and shown they can get it done when it really matters.  Perhaps that's why I would leave Rodgers out of the bracket the other three are in at the moment, while recognising he's playing outstandingly well and that it's surely only a matter of time before he leads his team to a Superbowl win.

There is the small problem that it would be difficult to say that someone like Marino was not an elite QB, and yet he hasn't got a ring.  Maybe I need to reconsider my definitions... Happy

Pro Bowl is a pointless farce - as soon as they allowed fans the vote it became pointless.
How did Manning get in this year given this is statistically one of his poorest seasons ?
Give it back to the coaches and qualified media and it might mean something again.
