broncos tamed them - well if it wasn't for VY being incapable of getting a couple more first downs in the 4th quarter, broncos would never have been in a position to win...i think fisher is just too conservative some times and would love to know the stats on when the titans last went for a fake field goal or a fake punt or an onside kick in a situation which doesn't scream 'onside kick'

The reason the broncos won this game is because they exposed the titans rubbish passD..Saying that the broncs did the same v the jets and were robbed late with a bullshit call...also they shut down chris johnson  53 yards on 19 attempts...longest run 8 yards...best team won that game

i never said he was a mug - he's just too safe over past 3-5 years in particular - i guess he thinks that CJ will make 5-6 yd gain each time..and i think the standings at end of the season will show perfectly well which team is the best although denver have the W for that game

Even Josh Mac admitted that they were the beneficiary of a similar 'bullshit call', against the Titans, to the one (where Hill definitely had his fingers in Holmes grill)that ultimately cost them against the Jets.

I think the week 4 loss was more down to over-conservative play calling by Heimerdinger. For the 1st 4 weeks he seemed determined to run it up the middle, whether they faced 8 or even 9 men in the box, the result being third and longs which became three and outs. There's defintely been a change of ethos since the Denver defeat and they've discovered that they've got a decent WR core.

If they were in the nfc, theyd probably be faves for the conference.

Are they even a top 5 team in the afc though?  Not for me.

And Jeff Fisher is ovverated.  How many division titles/superbowl appearances in all his years?  Good coach, not great.

Sori but they would'nt be favs in the nfc...their will always be a few teams that come strong late and make a run at it.....i backed the titans in NY and even tho the scoreline looks like it was a thrashing it was yet another game where their pass D was murdered but eli throw 2 stupid interceptions in the red zone...i know we can pick holes in most matches and say 'if only' but they give up just short of 400yards threw the air...not good signs

So, the Titans currently have the 23rd ranked pass defense in terms of yards per game (231 ypg).  Based on that stat alone, most people would think the Titans pass D is mediocre to poor.

But, the Titans have the 10th best pass defense in terms of opponents' yards per attempt (6.6 YPA) and 9th best pass defense in terms of opponents' passer rating (74.5).

Add in the league leading 24 sacks and the second-best team in interceptions (10) and this pass defense is 100x times better than last year.

Last year, we were 31st in yards per game (259ypg), 21st in YPA (7.2 YPA), 25th in passer rating (91.2), 18th in sacks (32), and 8th in interceptions (20).

Give Cecil some credit along with improved secondary play (thank you Griffin and Verner) and improved pass rush (thank you Babin, Ball, Witherspoon, and Jones).

Well if you are happy backing a team with a crap QB and a pass D that can be thrown on for fun..gl..the colts had similar stats last season, easy to pass and run on but they produced when it mattered apart from the superbowl but they were up against a superb offence...at least the colts D had the bonus of peyton manning who put pts up for fun...in young or collins we trust   dont see any team winning a superbowl with an average QB

lots of teams have won SB with average QB, ravens, buccaneers to name two recent qualifiers! and VY is not average, but he does have some poor games, let's hope he comes back from this sprain in a positive and confident mood but no problems with collins taking the two games up to the bye week

Vince Young is average, no better....you are correct gordon regarding average QBs winning the superbowl in the past, the teams you named, ravens and buccs, i cant think of any D better than either of them over the past 10 years. different class...kind of what ive been saying, you cant win a superbowl with an average QB unless you have a D like the buccs or ravens.titans D gives up so many yards.

harry - i'm in general agreement re QB-Defence arguement but isn't it true that turnovers win games and if the titans are going to sacrifice yards for sacks (with lots of fumble potential) and interceptions then i'm in favour especially if the points against are lower than you would expect when considering the yards allowed (which I believe to be the case with the titans this year)....when i had some more free time than i do these days i would make one trip per year to see the titans, usually away games where tickets were easier to obtain as for some reason they've never been considered a 'draw'...would love to see them in London but because their home games are sell outs i can't see that happening any time soon

patriots,giants,49ers teams who have visited wembley...all popular over in england since it was shown live on TV...not worth waiting around for to see if the titans do get a wembley game,.tbh id rather go to the states and watch a game than at wembley...Well it seems this season their is no outstanding team so you never know...wouldnt trust vince to take them all the way..they have to get out of the division firstly..such a competitive division.

talking of them 2 outstanding Defences...imo tampa was the better D...so much speed

with pats-jets-dolphins taking games off each other, afc west being rubbish and pittsburgh-baltimore likely to both be in playoffs i think two teams will come out of the south...10-6 definitely gets in, 9-7 may

Fisher went ballistic after the game and the safety (Griffin) tried chasing after Young but was held back - I thought he was over all those childish/selfish antics but clearly not.
Titans in trouble now, Collins still unfit and if Youngs teammates are lining up to lump the guy it spells problems
