BF have very kindly put the markets up agin this season and I have asked if they can do all of them as place markets as well.

Looking at the High Streets firm prices I must admit that no one jumps out at me as being a hugely overpriced. Damn them. To be honest I have no real feelings about this years markets.

WR's I fancy the Johnson boys, though Matt Stafford may be Calvins downfall.

RB Cant see past the first 2 in the Markets.

QB's now this one is wide open in my opinion. I do have a very sneaky big priced fancy but cant divulge until I get on which wont be untill the day before the Season Openers.

What do any of you fancy with reasons why so the rest of us can consider your salient points.

Ray Rice @17 for the most rushing yards.

**** @15 for the passing yards

Hakeem Nicks @51 for most receiving yards.

The only issue with Rice (ravens fan speaking here) is that we also have McGahee and McClain (who is far better as a rushing FB than a blocking one, if such a thing exists).

I'm sure i've read somewhere that they want to give McClain more carries, and McGahee was a monster around the goal-line last year so he will also steal some from Rice. In addition to that I think they want to try and open up the passing attack which if successful, will hurt RR.

Sorry to put a downer on things, just my take

tbh i would happily take any of Gore/Jones-Drew/Rice and not quite as much Greene @ 17 which are available.

No value backing either of the top two imo, could easily see AP getting benched this year if he continues to fumble. Gonna be hard for CJ2K to repeat also got fat boy(Lendale) to spell him this year.

Deangelo Williams and Stewart are potentially massive @51 if one of them picks up and injury for a spell in the season.

whats jamal charles odds? finished only behing cj through last 9 games off the season when he became the starter, im expecting some big yds, my only worry is thomas jones will take some off his carries.

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers in with a great chance but not much value imo
Report the nugget August 8, 2010 7:44 PM BST
Charles is available @ 29 which is fair imo. Probably going to be behind a lot of the time and throwing, also imagine Jones will have a fair few carries.
Report skyblues August 8, 2010 8:14 PM BST
Yeah its a little short for my liking, i thought he'd be around 40's. Seems to be having a decent camp, but as you say chiefs will be behind a bit though i do feel they will surprise some teams this year.

Hi guys, i strongly fancy C Benson. 40/1 at Stan J gotta be too big, he`s a true feature back and got nobody eating into his carries, in a contract year, the offense will be run orientated, the addition of Owens means opposing defenses can`t keep their safeties in the box and this should open up plenty of running lanes. Only problem is they only let me have 6quid e.w. online!!
Report Ravens August 8, 2010 9:05 PM BST
I`ve done Andre @ 11/2 in the top WR, not imaginative but imo he`s the best, don`t even think double coverage can stop him.
Brady @ 11/1, think he`ll need to throw a lot because i don`t rate their defense at all and their running game looks pretty average
Report illegalformation August 8, 2010 11:46 PM BST
Passing: Brady 10/1. Cutler 33/1 e/w
Rushing: c.johnson 5/1. Beanie wells 50/1 e/w
Receiving: g.jennings 16/1, malcolm floyd at 125/1 looks a bit too big (san diego are a one trick pony and vince jackson hasnt committed himself yet)

Love the old yardage markets.....

QB's - it's hard to look passed Brees considering the year he had last year without Lance Moore playing anything other than a meagre role, and you would imagine that run game will be just as strong (Thomas is a terrific runner) meaning teams can't play nickel and dime packages at will.  Look out for Dave Thomas to become Brees' #1 TE by the way - the kid should have been starring in the Pats offense but for whatever reason wasn't fancied - he has hands of glue and is unbelievably athletic.

I do fancy Matt Schaub to have another big year mind.  He looks healthy, he looks in tune with AJ and the rest of the receivers, and the run game simply can't be as bad as it was last year (although the rumours that Ben Tate has broken his ankle are alarming).

Then there's Manning.  It's a bore putting his name here year after year, but he's an utter yardage machine.  If you're going to back him, get on early as their opening run is pretty easy in terms of pass D's - you might be able to trade out mid-way through the season.

WR's: - I think it's AJ's to lose in all honesty.  He's just a frigging beast.  Those pass D's in the AFC South don't look to be any better either.

Behind him I don't really see anyone who will definitely have a big year, or at least a year as big as his.  Wayne maybe but the rest of the weapons the Colts have might take looks and receptions away (Garcon's a nice WR3 in Fantasy this year IMO), although he's a TD machine....Jackson is out for the first 4 games.....Rice doesn't have Favre throwing to him.....is Moss still Moss?.....was Austin a flash in the pan?.....I think this is the year of the dark horse.  Roddy White should be back to his usual self in Bubbaville now that that Ryan is healthy and Turner is (hopefully - for my fantasy teams anyway) over his toe injury and he could put up 1,400 yards.  That might be enough.  I also like the Ocho to have another good season.  I'd have a dabble at both of those.

RB's: - You have to look at Chris Johnson.  I doubt he sees 2000 yards again, but he should be comfortably in that 1,400 - 1,700 yards range, especially with LenWhale now gone.  Get him whilst he's hot.

Purple Jesus must also be back in contention - he's averaging almost 1,5000 yards a year, that's unbelievable.  He has fumble problems, injury problems, but he's still an absolutely supreme RB.  He's still the best in the league.

Ray Rice would be my third choice.  I think the additions to the Ravens passing game will spell a whole host of problems for teams not being able to stack the box any more.  He was simply superb last year, and I expect at least 1,400 yards this year.

Don't forget with Roddy White you have Gonzalez as a premium tight end absorbing a lot of yardage that might otherwise go his way, oh, and GO FALCONS! Love

Tempted by Jamaal Charles EW @ 28's..  Think he could have a breakout year ala Chris Johnson.

1100 yards off 190 carries last year....Should see 300 this time round (if the coach has any sense).

Yeah, like i said further up the thread, with thomas jones being signed in the off season and mccluster lining up some at rb, no way will charles see enough carries imo. 28's i actually thought he'd be slightly bigger.
Hope it comes in for you but he had off season surgery on his shoulder and i feel they wont over use him this season.

Didnt know about the surgery...hmmm.

Still like it ew mind.

Yeah slight concern, though he has looked very good in camp supposedly and played well in the pre season game the other nite.
Hopefully he wins, looked excellent last season.

The early value seems to have gone by now. Must admit to getting on Shonn Greene at 40s, Jamal Charles at 50s and Sidney Rice at 28s. All halfed in price now so happy days.

Quite like the the look of Spikes in defensive rookie and ryan matthews looks a worthy fav in offensive.
Report Ace High August 18, 2010 7:04 PM BST
Where on earth did you get those prices?

Just checked.

Greene opened at 40's @ SJ! What was there compiler smoking.

I got 20s and thought id got value...40s...ffs!

40s is huge for a team who will only run run and run. More than happy with my bets especially S Rice now Favre is back.

Spikes was built to play the SILB role in the 3-4, and has by all accounts looked outstanding in camp, and has performed well in the two pre-season games so far.  I really really like his chances, but he's not the only rookie LB to watch out for....

Sean Weatherspoon is (IMO) the hot favourite, he is a real play-maker and will excel in that Will position alongside the best young MLB in the league.  He's a fine pass-defender, and lays the wood when tackling.  He'll have 100 tackles this season.

Don't sleep on Daryl Washington either, he was the absolute best looking player at the Combine, and although he's more suited to the 4-3, he'll do well in Zona's hybrid 3-4.  He'll be the WILB in 3-4 looks, and the WLB in 4-3 looks, and I can see him picking off a few this year amongst other things.

Pat Angerer is in with a shout too.  He's the typical Colts MLB, I know they have Gary Brackett (a player I have HUGE respect for), but Angerer is the future of that D and real leader in the making.  He's already impressed in pre-season, and if Brackett misses any time at all, Angerer will take his spot.

You could probably make an argument for several other players, not least Suh and Brandon Graham, but the award is simply dominated by Linebackers (the last seven winners have all played the position), especially those who make a lot of plays and are in a lot of highlight reels.

As for OROTY, you have to be looking square at Mathews, it's an RB's award (although the last to win was Purple Jesus in 2007) and obviously so - they have the most touches and tend to make an impact from early on.  He's landed on a great team and should excel.

I would have offered Ben Tate's name out though had he not broken his ankle, he's had a really nice career on a bad team in a tough conference - the mark of a top player.  He's one to pick up on your waiver wire in Dynasty leagues and stash for the future.

CJ Spiller will garner some interest, especially with Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch sidelined for a while, and rightly so.  He's a 3 down threat and will also make an impact on special teams.  A similar player won it last year.

Montario Hardesty has to be worth a look, the Browns RB situation is hardly brilliant, and he's a tough runner who also performed well on a bad team in College.

If you want to try a hume-run by the way, take a flyer on Mike Williams of the Buccs.  In College he was an absolute dickhead, he quit on his team, he cheated in exams, and he acted the idiot.  But boy is he talented.  He was a first round pick from the neck down, and if the coaches can get in to his head, he'll be the biggest bargain of the entire Draft.  It already sounds like he's won a starting job.  I'm going to make sure he's on my watch-list for Fantasy.
