Help me out here. How exactly is this possible? I have pitching stats from Johnson on 04/09, meaning it was not an empty add/drop on my part.
The league has a two day waivers rule, meaning he can't clear waivers until Sunday. What is going on here?

So, why do we have league rules then? Can't you at least e-mail ESPN?

Z, this league is a straight renewal of last year ... although I think the scoring system may be broken.

Note: To help prevent the issue of cycling players through free agency, a player that is added and released on the same day will remain a free agent.

O, I've done this hundreds of times before.
I did not release the player on the same day. After start of first game, all roster moves are reflected on the next day. If you receive stats from a player, you owned him for a day.

Johnson was on waivers, I checked, as Gonzalez blew a save on the same day.
I had a claim(probably somebody else did too). Now Lippy has him from FA without clearing waivers. Well done ESPN.

and yeah, O, the league settings are correct. There has been a software error on ESPN's side or something!

Isn't that within 24hrs, breaching the rule above?

If ESPN have got it wrong, they'll let me know, because it's bound to have caused an uproar elsewhere.

No mate, because first game had started. I was watching the Tigers game and saw Guillen batting fifth, I released Johnson and took Guillen. Later on Gonzalez blew the save, I went and placed a claim on Johnson. I can not honestly say if my claim was still standings yesterday or if he was already FA as I didn't actually check.
I do moves like that every year as a consequence of not drafting pitching, often **ing myself out of a good player as news break on them after I've dropped after gametime(like this time). This time, my player did not clear waivers.
I'll test it again today and you'll see that the player would be on waivers.

I can't find any explicit statement saying that if a player shows up in your stats he has been 'owned' for the purposes of the waiver rules. The only rule I can see that clearly applies is the one I c&p above.

I'll be honest, I don't indulge in this sort of sharp practise on the waiver wire, so I have no empirical evidence to fall back on. If ESPN issue a correction I can alter the rosters, but for the time being Johnson belongs to Lippy.

Ok, I'll test it tonight in McNabb's league, if the player is placed on waivers, I'd contact ESPN.

I'll be throwing that idiot Gonzalez overboard soon ... try it on him! :)
