NFL overtime

They should use the college football overtime method. It's about 746435137 times better than what the NFL used to use, and still 5273 times better than what they've changed it to.

...or just allow draws, like proper sports do.

nfl dont want a repeat of last season when the saints got to the superbowl on the back of a overtime field goal and then went on to embarrass peyton mannings clots

in overtime even a 35yarder is no garuntee give me under the extreme pressure

Why anyone would want the game to finish in a draw is beyond me and i like the American mentality in sport that there has to be a winner, plus the fact it makes the gambling side of it easier!

I dont agree with the suggestion to play another full 15 minutes as if one team gets a lead and stops the other team they will just try and kill the clock and in the end it will be boring which is the last thing the Americans want.

The college model is the best one to work off imo. The only thing i would change is moving the ball back to the 35/40 yard line. In college games they start on the 25 yard line but with the kickers being so poor in college football this is the reason why. At least pushing the pros back 10/15 yards would make it harder for the kickers should the offence not be able to progress the ball on the first 3 attempts.

The method they have used is massively unsatisfactory. The new one is better, but the college one would be best. I agree that they might need to move the ball back a bit though.

Totally agree - current method is normally a horrible anti-climax

I'd rather have a yard line auction to see who gets the ball.

Both teams give a sealed number for where they would be prepared to start, furthest from the goal gets first pick and start at that line. Coin flip if it's a tie.

Alternatively you could just play sudden death - next TD wins - no FGs allowed and with a safety being converted into a turnover with 1st and goal at the 1. There'd still be an advantage to the toss but the excitement would be excellent esp. with lots of going for it on 4th down.
