I've seen many people victimised like that at football matches in the UK (and been on the receiving end once or twice) but it is normally so much more civilised in the US - as you can see by the Charger fans sticking up for the Jets fan who got chucked out.
There's a little gap in the coverage before the police start wading in so perhaps we should give them the benefit of the doubt and he actually did something wrong?
Dreadful stuff :-(I've seen many people victimised like that at football matches in the UK (and been on the receiving end once or twice) but it is normally so much more civilised in the US - as you can see by the Charger fans sticking up for the Jets
The fact that the Charger fans are sticking up for the guy would suggest he's pretty innocent.
Been listening to New York radio and it came about because an off duty SD policeman was sitting in front of the Jet fan. He was annoyed by the guy chanting J E T S so texted his buddies in the force to come and eject the man.
Big backlash against the SD police now though thanks to this footage and I don't think it's going to go away any time soon.

Was at a CFL game this year where some @rsehole was cheering for the away side just to be obnoxious. As the home team made a last minute comeback he cowardly scurried out before recieving his due punishment.
Yes, the U.S cops got it right on this one.

that wasn't verbal abuse though and if it was out of order why were the san diego fans saying what they did?.. granted he was asking for a crack if it was a football game here but ...

ridiculously heavy handed, id imagine the guy will sue so the public tax dollars wasted on a pointless arrest and then wasted again on a court case.
the song "what a waste of council tax, we paid for hats" springs to mind!

I agree with the comments, I mean the fact that the Chargers fan (who wasn't happy with the Jets chants) was sticking up for him says a lot.
The cop said to the guy near the end "We received a call so have to act" seems a bit lame, I mean it seems like they didn't even ask him to calm down (although we did miss some of the video) but the chargers fans shouting "Its a **ing disgrace" and about their tax money says a lot.
Heavy handed yet again.
