I think it's TV.
If you look back over the last 4 years the Big market/popular teams play on Sunday in the Divisional playoffs. So this year Dallas and NY Jets play on Sunday. |

hmmm by that logic they should've played last sunday as well?

It's utter rubbish to be suggesting there's anything dodgy about how last week's winners have been scheduled into this week's games.
Each of the home sides had their date/time confirmed a few days before last weekend's fixtures so they had more chance to make the necessary local arrangements for staging these games while the tv-requirements dictate there's one AFC & one NFC game on each of the two days. Hence it's a total coincidence from last weekend's results that we've ended up with both last Sunday's winners (Baltimore & Arizona) getting six days' rest and both last Saturday's winners (Dallas & NY Jets) getting eight days' rest ... for example, had 3rd-seeded New England beaten 6th-seeded Baltimore last Sunday, it would have been New England going to 2nd-seeded San Diego on Sunday with the 5th-seeded NY Jets going to Indianapolis on Saturday. |
