Pretty sure soccer was an evolution from Rugby? Could be wrong...but always thought Rugby U was the oldest sport.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Rugby above football LMAO!

Leicester Tigers, top of the league, BEGGED Leicester City to use their stadium for games because they couldn't afford the rent at Welford Road, despite all the players being on less wages than footballers.

Rugby has a good support, but not a touch on football at all.

it goes like this you dummies, THE definitive ranking of 'football' games

1)Aussie Rules, you've got the hits of the NFL and rugby, non stop action and plenty of skill on show
2)NFL
3)Soccer
4)Union
5)League

apologies to gaelic, beach, indoor etc. you dont get in.

right, next subject plz.

The fact that aussies are involved has to take it down at least 3 positions, regardless of its greatness.

I'm not a Tigers' fan (at all) Onions but you are completely wrong here. The Tigers are a money making machine in comparison to Leicester City.

They drew 24,000 for their game vs Wasps on Saturday, the fifth time they've sold out their ground this season. There was only just over 20,000 at the Walkers yesterday.

you think these nfl players have got anything on rugby players they dont do s hit run around for 30 seconds at a time have a break for a minute then there out of puff and a enough protection gear to save the president from havin a nuke dropped on him

Bit harsh to call it rubbish I suppose - just don't think that there's massive amounts of skill involved - it's catch and kick at it's very basic IMO and the majority of scores are uncontested kicks following marks.

I'd like to see this**play in the nfl for one quarter. funny how people make comments like this and probably have never played the game. 1.01 he will get killed if he tried.

yes the old padding nonsense- eh have you not seen the hits- they had to bring them in as the people wouldnt be able to play back to back games with the intensity

as for aussie rules but no place for gaelic football
ghet the hell out of here- the aussies(pros) play against the gaelic(amateur) every 2 years in a game of compromise rules

guess who won the last game in australia

yes the irish did

on your bike

so what if most people watch soccer over rugby- moret people watch dancing on ice over csi new york- that doesnt make it better

Rugby is sh1t!

1. NFL
2.Soccer

Ace high - Rugby was invented because of soccer, legend has it that a group of school kids were playing football and one really fat oversized kid who couldn't use his feet picked the ball up and decided to run with it and throw it in the goal. This continued with all the kids who did not have the ability to kick a football. And tho and behold rugby was born - for a group of oversized men to hug and kiss each other and offer a chance to smell each others arses, o and with a one sane person who can kick and a couple of speedsters to make it appear like a real game.

I leave you with a quote - 'What is easier to master - A ball sport using your hands or feet?'

The school was in a town called Rugby in Warwickshire. Hence the name 'Rugby'. How original.

Rugby used to be interesting, now it is just awful.

Football is VERY occasionally exciting. How many times do you hear "dreadful 0-0 game" mentioned each week, about 90% of football games are terrible. In the NFL however, maybe only 1 or 2 a week could be described as bad and this season they have usually involved 1 of the following teams:

Cleveland
Oakland
Tampa Bay
Seattle
Buffalo

I am an NFL nut and played the sport for 12 years aswell as being a qualified coach BUT

I hate the fact they use the term "WORLD CHAMPIONS " for all of their National Champs even in Basketball when they failed in the Olympics.

Other than thats is the Dogs back wheels

Seeing as you use both in rugby I'll presume you re soft in the head
