18 game season sounds great more football what can be wrong with that as a huge fan that I am, nothing right, Wrong.
1. Dominanat teams secure playoffs by game 13/15 what they going to do for 3/5 weaks play the 3rd stringers, we get rubish games and results( punters beware ) like last night alot more often and the fans dont get to see the players thay have paid to.
2. I think it asks to much of the players physically myself, I played the game in UK which was probably like High School Football and that hurt god knows what the NFL must be like.
3. All the records will get re written and you just cant tell who is was the best!
Comprimise Situation
1 Have 16 games spread out over 19/20 weeks so each team gets 3 or 4 buy weeks a season to rest up. Basically a team plays 4/5 games then gets a buy week. Important though each Div is off altogether and ater the buy week they play a Div game say so one year Redskins get 3 buys and come back and play WHOEVER home or away the following season the schedule is reversed after the buys.
2 Kick the seaon off early only have 2 practice matches and maybe increase squad size by 2 players say.

Roger Goodell is a terrible commisioner, I dont care what anybody says. You have the biggest sport, in the biggest sports market around under your grip, and you are persistent on making big changes all the time...sigh.
16 games are perfect for the reasons you mentioned, especially the historic one. Didnt O.J get 2000 in 14 games?...im sure Jerry Rice also made a big recieving record in 14 games that was recentley broken...kind of makes a mockery of it for all involved doesnt it.
One of the main reasons for the NFL's greatness is the short season, and the 'every game means something' angle. A 18 game season is a terrible idea....i want to punch Goodell in the face.

Ace High you will get a flag on that play and 15yards plus a hefty fine imposed by the man himself. I would expect you would be playing for free for the entire season.
