I have really enjoyed the college 'bowls' but can someone explain if these games are like cup finals

How do they get there?

Is it knockout or on a league basis?

Many thanks

jj

They're often clouded in controversy and subject to the finger of corruption. College football is a multi million dollar industry and needs an overhaul which is why the president himself is pushing for a playoff systme to be brought it but there's a ton of pressure brought to bear by the vested interest to keep it as is.

the conferences have their schedules, and within the season they plaly "other" conference teams. the harder the conference you are in, and the tougher schedule you have, you may still not be eligible for the national game. Crimson Tide had to beat the number 1 seed to make the national final.

Another question, in terms of support, do people:

a.) support the college local to them
b.) the college they attended
c.) they will support both equally

Knowing a few Americans that went to college (especially a few Buckeyes) I think it is complete treachery to support anyone but the college you attended

So it's (b) if you go to college, (a) if you don't, and (c) if you're a bounder and a cad!
Report vrk January 3, 2010 4:02 PM GMT
D) all of the above

seriously. You may have grown up like me (Nebraska) in an area where everyone follows the team from a young age. Then if you go away to university somewhere else you will naturally follow that team. Then If you move to a place with a major college football program you may well follow it.

A veritable portfolio of teams!
Report vrk January 3, 2010 4:05 PM GMT
Besides that its very possible that the team where you currently live and the one at the university you went too will virtually never play one another.
