It's more entertaining in the same way that rugby union was more entertaining back in the amateur days. It's less polished, a little less skilful, and there's more of a talent differential between individuals. Plus it has a much better method for settling a tie.

Different teams, different years. Trends like that are worthless imo. What matters are the squads and coaches of this year's teams. That doesn't mean that Southern Miss won't win, just that they won't win because they've been more successful here before.
