Can any1 tell me why some bookies bet on the handicap without a .5 , seems they offer no odds for a draw...

for example PITTS -10 10/11

same firm MINNESOTA -6.5 10/11

Youre right.

its because if you bet on say Patriots - 3 and they win by 17-14 then your bet is counted as a non runner

by putting that little half a point it elimainates that equation.

Betfair always put ahalf on their handicaps though, because a PUSH is no good to them. They need a winner, otherwise they`ll not get their commission!!

sensible is betfair, who wants a Push ? no one, you bet to win not to get your dough back

i would have thought it would benefit all bookies to go the half point and just alter the odds, instead of giving all the money back
Report cunnybobbler December 10, 2009 11:04 PM GMT
they do it mainly cos they know if they have half a point then one team gets hammered. +3.5/7.5/10.5 and the team that has the points gets backed, +2.5,6.5,9.5 and the team giving up the points gets backed.

wouldn't going 1.70 / 2.10 equalise their liabilities ?
Report cunnybobbler December 10, 2009 11:32 PM GMT
they probably dont like offering odds against on handicaps cos it can create arb opportunities. if both teams are 10/11 there cant be an arb no matter how much the line shifts.

as you say cunny or the bookies would do it
