Apparently it's currently pizzing down in NYC , which makes a rainout a real possibilty. Should this happen , keeping in mid that make-up games take place on rest days , it is bound to mess up pitching plans ; a 4th starter could be needed and neither teams are particularly strong in this department.

Weather unlikely to delay Game 1 of Series
Wet conditions may affect play, but outlook improving

NEW YORK -- The weathermen have been kept busy by the damp conditions around Yankee Stadium all season long, so it should come as no surprise that there was more wetness in the forecast for Game 1 of the World Series.

While it appears that the outlook is improving for the Yankees and Phillies to get the Fall Classic under way as scheduled tonight at 7:57 ET, fans heading to Yankee Stadium will probably want to consider bringing some sort of rain gear, just in case.

Gates are scheduled to open on time for fans at 5 p.m.

As of 4:30 p.m., the tarpaulin had been removed from the playing field, and the skies were beginning to clear from gray to blue as workers prepared the mound.

Weather.com had modified their forecast to have the showers clearing up by 6 p.m., with a 20 percent chance of precipitation and temperatures around 53 degrees under cloudy skies at the 7:57 p.m. first pitch.

The National Weather Service called for a chance of rain before 9 p.m., then a chance for drizzle before the rain eventually ends. With a 40 percent chance of precipitation, they called for cloudy skies with a low around 47 and a northeast wind between 11-14 mph.

AccuWeather.com was reporting that the weather pattern was improving for Game 1, calling for mainly cloudy and misty conditions with areas of fog. Precipitation was expected to cease after 7 p.m. and hold off until approximately 11 p.m.

"Players may be dealing with a soggy outfield, and fans may want to bring a towel to dry off their seats upon arrival for the game Wednesday evening," wrote Accuweather.com's Alex Sosnowski.

Weather played a large role in Games 1 and 2 of the American League Championship Series, both won by the Yankees in cold and raw conditions that made it somewhat uncomfortable for players, who wore ear flaps on their caps and face masks.

But the Yankees opened the gates on time to fans for both contests and the rain, more prevalent in the late innings of the 13-frame Game 2, never actually made the field unplayable.

ALCS Game 6 was postponed for one day by rain, with the game called by Major League Baseball approximately one hour after the gates were opened to fans.

World Series tickets are honored when that game is played. For example, if Game 1 were to not be played tonight, the tickets for Game 1 would be accepted at Yankee Stadium gates on the rescheduled date for the first game of the World Series.

The Yankees have invited fans interested in weather updates concerning future home games to visit Yankees.com/weather.

They have also asked to arrive extra early for Game 1, due to increased security because first lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden will be on hand in support of returning veterans and their families.

I really hope that this will be a great Series, the last few have been very uninspiring and uncompetitive.

Anybody got any advice?

I have backed the Yankees at evs for the win tonight for £500, they can now be layed at 1.60

What would people do? Green up on both teams to guarantee profit or or be braver and let it ride or or lay the Yankees for £500 at 1.60 and be just green with the Yankees win?

evening all - just getting ready to settle down for the night

Haven't a clue tonight and might just have to plump for the NYY and my reasoning is probably

1. CC
2. NYY Bullpen
3. A Rod has form in the play-offs

Obviously there are a lot more points but these were the first 3 that I came up with

Thoughts anybody

It was the Metro obviously the RacingPost is more of a betting paper but they tipped Philly at (18/1) at the start of the season and have lots of regular winners in other sports...
