I detected a South African accent, the cloth-eared counterparty of my bet says there is no connection between the driver and the country.

No one looks at the F1 section it seems. Me included so this reply is rather late.

Lando was born in UK and lived here all his life. His mother is Belgian or Dutch or something, so maybe that could explain the slight twinge in his accent?
