this forum appears a bit sadly reduced of late. any rats still present? is broken for me - all the buttons have gone missing from markets.

dunno if it's a problem your end, but it kicked in after the maintenance the other day.

at last! thought it was just me.

if it helps, the main global "view watches" etc buttons to the right of betfair sports at top are still there (and the watch list is still active), but the buttons to the right of individual markets have gone, so nothing can be added.

this seems to have coincided with the temporary disappearances of the second (blue) bar starting "multiples".

I put a comment up on the extras feedback page...comments are moderated before they appear so hopefully the rats will at least be aware.

cheers guys. let's see if between us we can't pester them into getting this fixed.

meantime, it's only really the watch list I'm after. anyone know if there's anything else out there that'll do the same thing? preferably free?

PS - IB, that is so weird, never heard of warfarin till this morning, when I read about how Beria may have used it to kill Stalin.

downloaded geekstoy and been using that as a surrogate watch list.

great piece of kit for a freebie, but tbh I'd rather just have the WL back.

yup, its broken for me too. tried going back to firefox 3.5 & using version 2.16 but that setup also broken, so must be due to conflict with new betfair software (changed during 'maintenance').

Theres another upgrade tomorrow so hopefully after they do that a new version of extras might appear, just a shame they dont let the labs people know.

I have a nasty suspicion they're just going to quietly let the extras die.

wouldn't surprise me, as BF management seem to have been on a mission to alienate their customers for a couple of years now, and that would be a logical way to do it.

needless to say, I hope I'm wrong.

it  would  be  great  if  someone  from  betfair would   at  least  let  you  know  what  is happening

Yes, we're still around although we've been concentrating on bigger, longer term projects which is why we've seemed quiet.

The structure of market pages has changed, which is why Extras fails to find the right point to inject it's own buttons. I know the watchlist is popular (I was a user of it myself) so I'm very sorry it's not around at the moment.

I have to be honest, I don't know when or if Extras will be resurrected. I'd love it to be because it's a pet project for me, but I can't say when that'll happen because I'd depend on resources out of my control.

I know we've had a lot of calls about Extras - perhaps we'll get enough that we'll be forced to fix it.

As someone who has used the watch window a lot, I'm obviously concerned about the loss of extras.  I'm told that the changes to the site have resulted in breaking extras, and that since more alterations are planned shortly, there is little point in mending it at the moment.  The plan is currently to bring it back eventually, but there is no timescale as far as I can tell.  Extras is not supported by Betfair which means that when they change things they don't have to consider what effect the changes have on extras :(

Just to add my two penneth worth.  Have been an avid user of the watchwindow for a log long time now, and to be honest it feels as if I am trying to use betfair with one arm tied behind my back at the moment.  The watchwindow wasn't so much a useful addition so much as absolutely essential for my day to day betting at betfair.  I truly hope it will be back, and back sooner rather than later.  The more of us who push the powers that be to get this reinstated the better I would have thought.

Yes one of my favourite features too.  Mainly for being able to watch several markets at once during football.  But also to "see" a live horse race from the betting, when I have no tv pictures.

No watch window = less betting for me.  = less profit for Betfair

I would also like to express my concern of not having the watch window back sooner as it's one of the best Betfair tools from the Extra projects.

aragorn, you could do worse than mess around with geeks toy, which is a free betfair interface (no subscription or up-front payment).

you can use it to watch several markets at once in individual resizeable windows. tbh it's not as flexible a watch tool as the watchlist was, but it's better than nothing, and does appear to be throttled so it can't land you with a load of unexpected data charges. it also has info on it that the watchlist didn't, eg totals matched on each selection, last price matched and size of bet, weight of money indicators etc. for a freebie it's a good piece of kit.

there's a link to it on the solutions page.

well larry, if this does prove to be the end, thanks for developing extras in the first place. a genuinely well thought out and useful bit of kit without which I (and therefore arguably betfair) would have probably made thousands less than I have whilst it's been in existence.

I'm glad you made hay whilst the sun shone with it.

Don't give up on Extras... I've been tinkering this evening and I may be able to get it back on its feet. I'll try some more when I have some more free time.

Sign the petition on http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/make-the-betfair-watchwindow-a-permanent-feature

The petition owner will take the case to the Betfair CEO when/if there's a fair amount of signatures.

Just watch you don't sign up to lots of animal rights etc stuff whilst signing the petition.

Thanks for the response Larry, I appreciate Betfair may have different priorities, but I hope they can allow you some time to sort this out - I think the users above have indicated how valuable this tool is

Now if someone who has my email address ends up sorting this in their spare time.....I'm sure a lump of very expensive gorgonzola could be sourced [;)]

If you could do something larry it would be much appreciated as it is vital for what i do on betfair and like someone else has put its like having one arm tied behind my back.

Ok, I looked at this last night and got up early this morning and I have everything but chat working in versions of Firefox >3.6.

I'm going to get some lunch and have a look at chat, but if it's not immediately obvious I'll get it released as-is, because then at leasto you get the watch window back.

That would be brilliant,it seems you are doing this outside working hours-if that is the case your commitment to the cause is fantastic and i would be very grateful.

Can you just clarify,is it mozilla 3.6 and upwards that is compatible with your proposed update or less than 3.6.I assume  we download from the labs page when you release it.

When: 26 May 10 14:20
Lunch time is over so I've stopped trying to improve it now. I've released what I've done so far.

Everything seems to work apart from chat on recent versions of Firefox (tested on 3.5 and 3.6, but other version should be fine too - famous last words I know).

Chat only works in v3.5.x and below but I'm guessing that's not a problem for most of you since I never see you there!

To update either:
- From the Firefox menu choose Toos, Add-ons, then right-click Find Update and let it do the work.
- Reinstall from https://labs.betfair.com/Project+and+Discussion+Viewer/?contentId=518

Let me know if you have problems. I'll do what I can within reason!

First a typo to be corrected:
"From the Firefox menu choose Toos, ..."
should be
"From the Firefox menu choose Tools, ..."

and the direct link to reinstall is here (got caught out by the forum software so trying again):
