Only fair outcome to this ridiculous situation is a replay . However the GAA who have been fence sitting since Sunday have so far failed the two clubs ( in particular Glen) and us public who pay into venues throughout the country .
I almost joined Kilmacud Crokes many years ago while I was studying/ working in Dublin . They were the nearest club , and they were very much a junior club then . They have come a long way since then , and like Glen are a credit to all those involved with them .
However re Sundays match , Kilmacud were slightly the better team , despite a poor start which saw Glen go odds on to win . But the practice of "running down the clock" back fired on them , and this unsporting practice ( aided substantially by hand passing ball retention) unfortunately has become a feature of our games . Referees have the power to counter such activity by adding on time , but few do so , more is the pity .
The current playing rules also contribute adversely to such situations , the abominable failure to limit hand passing with a return to "foot"ball instead of "hand"ball a huge factor . Cannot fathom why a return to 2 consecutive hand passes only has been ditched . That single rule would largely return the game to what it used to be .

Has to be a replay. You cannot and should not have 16 players on the playing pitch at any time
No real interest in the outcome of club final but your on the button re gaelic football.
Many teams now have players who could run for hours but cant kick a football and as a result the game has become characterless unless your watching Kerry etc who can actually play football .

Imho there should be no replay.
The onus was on the officials to ensure there was the correct number of players on the field. It was their mistake. This goes for GAA in general. The amount of games I see at club and inter-county level that has players coming and going willynilly is ridiculous. They have to have a proper system regarding substitutions.
Agree with the sentiments about the standard of play.

It is basketball with goalposts instead of a hoop.
Few or no rules observed on the pitch, and if you break them you can appeal successfully.

In the local village shop I was told they can't get youngsters to play GAA, only soccer.

Kilmacud Crokes have lodged an appeal against the GAA's ruling that the 2023 All-Ireland club senior football final be replayed.
Under rule 6.44, penalties for having more than 15 players on the pitch include the awarding of the game to the opposing team, for the game to be replayed, or a fine.
The best result now would be to award the match to Glen.
The expectation in GAA is an appeal is a guarantee of cancellation or reducion of a sanction.

Glen withdraw appeal against all Ireland Club Final outcome
Unfortunate that Glen were put in the position of having to object when they had done nothing wrong and were the victims of inadequate officialdom on the day .
The messing about that goes on largely near the end of games is a blight on the game . I always thought that a player had to leave the field before another player was allowed to enter the game as their substitute .
Maybe this will result in the GAA taking action to clarify procedures re substitutions and instructing referees to make adequate time additions when teams are messing about trying to run down the clock .
