Great to see Rory get that long-awaited win and get back inside the world top ten.
Remarkably ,he won despite his driving being totally off - his driving accuracy was just 34 % for the week -and incredibly only 21 % in round 4 !
The rest of his game was in super shape -especially putting - 49 putts from 6 ft or less and all holed.,, plus some top class bunker play.
If he can stabilise the driving he must be a leading contender at the PGA at Kiawah Island -a course he's ripped to shreds before.

Brilliant from Phil, and not far behind Pod and Shane. Pods T4th means he's back at the masters next year, wd sir.

McIlroy just can't nail down a bit of consistency,he's turning into just another golfer at this stage.

Delighted to see Rory re-roars back.
Again he shows character and mental toughness as well as his awesome skill. He shook off the Ryder Cup flop ,the effect of a silly triple bogey
at the end of Rd.1 ,being 9 shots behind at halfway. He then played flawless golf under pressure on the last four holes when he couldn't afford a slip.
Since 1934(First Masters) he is one of only 6 players to win 20 PGA tournaments and at least 4 majors by the age of 32. Who are the others ? Try Byron Nelson ,
Arnold Palmer , Jack Nicklaus , Tom Watson, Tiger Woods !! A pantheon of the true greats.
Rory is a superb sportsman -a rounded straightforward human being who eschews the hype and frivolity associated with much of today's topline professional sport.
He brings credit on himself and on Ireland. Now only the Masters title remains to project him to the pinnacle of golfing glory.

Watch it last night Vubiant. The fact that you could get 20/1 on Rory before the off will tell you how up and down his game was before the start.     great to see him at his best last night.  Nice post Vubiant

Absolutely brilliant to see Rory in the winners enclosure again. After a slew of high finishes he gets the win to make it successive Canadian Opens.
Justin Thomas , a top player in hot form, threw a fusillade of birdies at Rory ( six in a row at one point) but McIlroy answered every challenge and finished off in style with two virtual tap-in birdies of his own.
Surely , with the slump in form over , another major must be in the offing fairly soon.
Another top ten for Shane Lowry too as Irish golf continues to thrive.

Rory playing well in patches at Brookline , but he can't win when there is any wind about . Wind is the unknown factor in golf , along with fast greens and run offs .

Seamus Power is worth a mention though , has begun to show that he belongs in the top tier of golf at last . Keeping an eye on him for some more success .

Shane Lowry got the worst possible draw at Brookline , small wonder he could not get going . The situation re LIV golf is getting more complicated , GMAC for instance jumping ship , could not blame him on a personal level for jumping ship where he can get paid buckets of money for just showing up 8 times a year . But is it good for the game ?

Great week for Irish golf . Rory -top ten , Power -top 20 and Leona dazzling in Michigan only to be pipped in a play-off. Shane must be utterly frustrated -months of good play can't squeeze out a win. Still time this year.
As for LIV -the basic idea of innovating new forms of golf is laudable but to consent to doing it with the blood money of a terrorist regime is sickening and morally repugnant. I was shocked to hear Graeme McDowell use the term 'smear campaign' to refer to those who have expressed criticism and reservations about the LIV venture. It is so sad to see how he has trashed his standing in the game.

And again the supremely talented and irrepressible McIlroy ascends to being world No.1. He has recovered his A game which must bode well for a good run at the Masters next spring.

Great to see Rory back at the top again .  When I learned that he had changed to a ball with characteristics more like the one he played in his earlier career I was hopeful that there would be more consistency in his game .  That has proved to be the case over the latter part of the season .

Hope he can maintain the gallop .

What a sensational start to the year for Rory. The manner of the win shows he has added mature judgment and a disciplined temperament to his supreme playing skills. Some doubters will still expect that this is setting up for a year of letdowns but I'm reasonably confident that Rory will win a few more titles in 2023 and a major is a feasible possibility. Here's hoping.

Rory wins Scottish Open in epic style -covers last two holes in 5 shots into a wind and under pressure...awesome skill and strong mentality. Must be going into the Open in a relaxed and confident frame of mind. It may not bring a win ,given the unpredictable nature of golf, but he's well set up and looks to be playing more consistently now at a high level. Will surely grab another win somewhere before season's end and of course there's the little matter of the Ryder Cup where he'll be wanting to wipe out the bad memories of the last one.
Can see Shane being competitive here too and delighted Seamus Power is fit to play.

Rory's putter went cold in the 3rd round at Hoylake . Mis reading the lines the main culprit as far as I could see . Harry was a better putter than  Rory when Harry played Senior Cup for us back in the day .Not sure Rory uses that ability to the full .

Rory the star as he and Shane win the Zurich Classic team event. Rory now performing consistently at a higher level and likely to have a good shot at winning that elusive major this summer. Himself and Shane get $1.28 million each and a bucket of Fedex Cup points so a super weekend for them in any case.

' Surely ,with the slump in form over, another major must be in the offing sairly soon ' (Vubiant , Jun '22)
Well ,I did say 'fairly' soon !! Happy

But what's this I see ? 'McIlroy turning into just another golfer at this stage' ( Punchestown. May '21 ) ShockedLaugh

In fairness Vubiant he was shaping up like the nearly man for the rest of his career until that win,if he hadn't won that play off he would have been destroyed mentally.

With the pressure off now he should win more Majors.
