Love him or loathe him ?

for me ... he is an imbecile, and his behaviour is a total embarrassment to Irish people.

he is no Muhammad Ali either and I reckon he is one of the most overrated sports stars on the planet.

although I do admit he is world class at talking ****.

I think Khabib will beat the **** out of him

He’s a low life piece of shiite, that’s what he is . Anyone who supports or goes to see the dirty vermin should be branded on their forehead , that way we’d know who they were. It would be a handy way of recognising idiots, you’d just see the stamp and automatically you’d know , that person is an imbecile so it’s pointless engaging with them.
Although his popularity is on the wane, more and more journalists are writing derogatory articles about the slumdog, and finally , even the thick basstards are realising what a yoke he is . The only one I’ve ever seen openly defend him on here is one of his neighbours ( what would you expect ), he says he’s a lovely fella .

His ould lad is an even bigger tool (If that's possible),as a wise old man once said "If it's in the ram,it's in the lamb"...

He has and will continue to make a lot of dosh alright (and fair play to him) but he's a complete idiot when you put a microphone in front of him.
Report jimeen October 3, 2018 5:28 PM BST
The people who like him are brainless morons , end of story .
Report Joe Mac October 3, 2018 5:44 PM BST
He's obviously a rough character, a product of his upbringing I'd suggest, but I think most people fail to realise that most of his antics are all aiming to build excitement for his fights. It's those antics that have made him rich. There are plenty of world-class fighters earning a pittance because they don't understand the importance of engaging an audience. He's literally laughing all the way to the bank at those that take the antics at face value and tune in to see him get a hiding.

I'm sure most have no interest in changing their minds about him at this stage, but he did this interview the other day that is much closer to his real character. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei4JWkfT680
Report jimeen October 3, 2018 6:28 PM BST
Taking selfies with subsequently murdered Kinahan man , David Byrne , he’s a real lovely guy isn’t he . A real role model for all young men looking at the piece of filth . It doesn’t matter what money he makes because in the finish he will be either skint or clipped, because he hasn’t the brain to avoid either eventuality.
Report frank60 October 3, 2018 6:29 PM BST
Joes post is nearer the truth, Conor made a ass of himself in front of the press a few weeks ago but the interview he did the other day  [see Joes link ] was more like him , Khabib to win by submission [around 3/1] is a good bet.  Mcgregor i believe is not the fighter he was [ 1st M.M.A. fight in 2 years] .  Mcgregor has never had many fans on the irish forum so no surprise in some of the posts on this topic.
Report jimeen October 3, 2018 6:57 PM BST
So the selfie with David Byrne isn’t him at all frank .
Which McGregor was that ?
Report Joe Mac October 3, 2018 7:09 PM BST
The connection there is that he grew up training in the same gym as a few lads that ended up tied in with the Kinahans. That was his upbringing and has been well covered in the national media. If he ran a million miles from his upbringing as soon as he made a few quid, people would probably be giving him stick for that. I've never heard him claiming to be a role model for anyone. If young people want role models the world is full of sports stars that put on a fake humble face for the press when in reality most of them are as arrogant/confident as Conor. Most sports people are media-trained robots nowadays. It's bland. You might not like McGregor's carry on, but at least it gets people excited and talking.

I think McGregor by knockout in round one at 5/1 is a cracking bet. Khabib is an amateur in striking terms. As good as McGregor was prior to the Mayweather fight, his boxing can only have improved for that experience. It wouldn't surprise me if he made it look easy. Though, if it goes to the ground, it'll obviously be an unpleasant night for him. Exciting fight in the making.
Report jimeen October 3, 2018 7:16 PM BST
This thing that McGregor does is a makey uppy sport , it’s wrestling in disguise. Anyone that watches it , bets on it , voices an opinion on it must be semi retarded. The only way I’d consider watching it is if I thought that the other guy might actually put McGregor in a wooden box.
Report Joe Mac October 3, 2018 7:30 PM BST
You're about 25 years behind the times with that opinion, Jimmy. The irony of you calling him a low life and a slumdog only to then go on and say you'd only watch him fight if you thought he'd be killed is mighty stuff altogether. You might have more in common than you think!
Report jimeen October 3, 2018 8:49 PM BST
Joe, I might be 25 years behind the times with my opinion, but that doesn’t make it an incorrect one . I could identify idiots 25 years ago , but it’s even easier today . The McGregor heads are instantly recognisable and to a man , each and every one of them is a moron. It’s a foolproof system , McGregor head = clown, with absolutely and utterly no exceptions.

Joe Mac (Kenna) in front of goal.

Probably true i'd be way behind the times as well, never saw a fight in that format, i mean ever, i don't think i wanted to as (yes, behind the times), i always thought rightly or wrongly it had its origins in Malaysia or Tiawan or somewhere out there.
It was always boxing and not sure i'd ever be a fan of a seemingly hybrid.
From the very little i've seen of him could never be a "fan" as such.

Moving away from McGregor and onto the sport of MMA, as it's an interesting conversation in itself. The origins of Mixed Martial Arts basically came about when boxers, karate guys, wrestlers, grapplers etc would have arguments about who'd win in a real fight, with no restrictive rules. There were some attempts at "open rules" fighting down through the decades, but it didn't really take off until the UFC came about in the early 1990s. There were pretty much no rules, no weight divisions, no time limits and mostly lads that specialised in one discipline or another rather than being well rounded. It was fairly rough at the start, with plenty of big mismatches. As it gained in popularity, MMA soon sorted out what worked and what didn't in a real fight, with the likes of kung fu and some of the other martial arts being made look pretty much useless in an open rules situation. As time has gone on, everyone that competes in MMA needs to be very well versed in all the skills, be it punching, kicking, wrestling, submission holds etc... What we are seeing now is a very pure, refined style of fighting.

Society has been conditioned to think that boxing is what a fight looks like as that has been the dominant combat sport for well over a hundred years, that is why most people don't quite know how to react when they see people being choked or head kicked etc. Times are changing though. I would expect MMA to be the dominant combat sport within 20 years. It isn't far off being there already.

Good reply from the wonker , I suppose it was hardly surprising that he would be a McGregor man , considering it’s only a few months ago, he was telling us how he met him and what a wonderful guy he was. Wonker and McGregor have plenty in common , both from the same neck of the woods, and both with a huge void between their ears.

McGregor beaten by the better man, no excuses.

The post-fight scenes were disgraceful. Pre-fight rivalry and hype is what it is, but all the rivalry should always be left in the ring afterwards. That has always been the way in combat sports. Khabib and his team let themselves down badly.

To those calling for the sport to be banned for such scenes, let the sport without sin cast the first stone... https://www.balls.ie/gaa/watch-shameful-scenes-mass-brawl-spills-crowd-derry...

It won't post properly, but here is the text:

"Disturbing footage has emerged from last night's Slaughtneil versus Ballinderry Shamrocks match in the Derry reserve Gaelic football Championship which saw a mass brawl spill into the crowd.

The game, which saw Ballinderry victorious after extra-time on a 2-15 to 1-13 scoreline, was played just one night after Slaughtneil's senior side were knocked out of the Derry football Championship by Eoghan Rua.

Thursday night's tie saw Slaughtneil come back from four points down at half-time to lead by one approaching extra-time, only for a late score to force the game to additional time. During the course of the tense affair, an on-field scuffle escalated when it spilled towards the crowd. Players and management could be heard exchanging verbals with supporters across the fence which ultimately led to violence.

The incident is not an isolated one in the GAA. In recent weeks several videos of serious altercations have been captured, instigating a debate about the association's tolerance for on-field violence. It goes without saying that the videos themselves are not the issue but what they are capturing."

At least the women at the GAA matches don’t be charging a score a pop for  their services behind the back of the stands, unlike that other  stuff. On top of that the poor girls are forced to hand over the money to their dad, who spunk’s all the money on gambling. Awful stuff in all honesty , and just goes to show what kind of tramps support that other code.
