The "Heart of Racing" feature last Saturday in The Irish Field on racecourse manager, John Flannelly, clearly put the kibosh on Ballinrobe. It could hardly have been carried at a worse time.
The track has only 3 flat fixtures (from 10) so it would be no great loss. Unless we are going to transform the Bog of Allen into something it can never be, my idea of a "midlands" AW track would be The Junction. Big call needed as Tipp loses far too many fixtures when the rain falls. As its close to the heart of the mafia it wouldn't be allowed to fail. Maybe an option to retain a smaller turf track could also be looked at when the inevitable mega-drainage work has to take place.
