No surprise Wales odds have shortened,i very nearly turned into a mercenary judas barsteward, seen too many games in this qualifying and not a shot or very few on target in the whole match, they are brutal and left it behind in Georgia and unable to score against the 10 men Serbs, Wales no great shakes either though despite their euro run.
Just maybe it could be an odd sort of match in that both teams look likely need the win. Not an ounce of hope here, surprise me. |

WALES 0-1 REP OF IRELAND
73mins - Wales still struggling. Meanwhile, Serbia have found the opener against Georgia. They - as expected - are going through as group winners if scores stay the same. Ireland will be in the play-offs. |

the jinx thread worked a treat, well done Ireland, 1/2 for Ireland to hold on was free money, didn't have a bet myself
but that was nailed on once they scored. |

The eight teams in the play-offs are: Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Sweden, Greece and Croatia.
Of those eight teams, the top four will be seeded based on the FIFA world ranking which will be revealed on 17 October. Currently, Ireland are 34th in the ranking and the only other team that remain lower than them that are in the play-offs also are Greece. This would mean that currently they are unseeded and face a tougher draw. Portugal are in the top ten with Italy, Croatia and Northern Ireland, the other top-ranked sides, however, those positions could change based on this week's results. The play-off first legs will be played between the 9 and the 11 of November with the return legs on between the 12 and 14. |

The seeded teams will be portugal/switz, italy, croatia and denmark. The latter are playing with great confidence, so i guess the best case would be to hope portugal beat the swiss and we then draw the swiss in the playoff.

TY Workrider, i got the red card around the time that Wildman and Ox got there redcards, i looked in a few times and got the impression that they were badly missed by most of the irish posters, i dont know why i got red card but i could narrow it down to 2 or 3 ..good to be back anyway for the jump racing.

GOT WHAT YE WANTED I GUESS...
The Republic of Ireland will come up against Denmark in a two-legged play for a place in next summer's World Cup Finals in Russia. Following Tuesday's draw in Zurich, Ireland avoided tricky ties against both Italy and Croatia and will travel to Copenhagen before a return leg in Dublin at the Aviva Stadium in November. Now just have to win ! |
