Good man Punchestown, one minute you were cursed and the next it is steak instead of sausages.
As bad as it gets that jockey on Aurora Bell is probably cursing his luck and good reason.

Enjoyed the racing there today, two couldbeanythings got a land in the 4.55.

Have to pay £320 premium charge this week, sickening having my money withdrawn from my account! Sickening Betfair.
Report pa lapsy August 29, 2017 12:16 PM BST
Mordin,i know you are fairly sound but going to go pure devils advocate in a nothing personal way whatsoever.

Why do you do it? (give them pc).
Straight away i can understand if your answer is it is the only way you can get on.

I am eligible for it myself, i cannot start at a 22.5% deficit on an opening bet though, morally i simply refuse to give them pc,betting now is small but get a kick even having a score on a winner. The simple reason it has come to that is PC has wiped out the market makers and betfair is following the bookmakers until the last few minutes, the wheel has turned full circle.

Doubt you are a bot/fast pic user,i have a feeling you are a clever fella with form and if so you have my sympathy, galling to lose next week and hit again on a winning week, madness.

The company stinks of greed and arrogance, the pc was supposedly brought in to replace "fish",that argument was shouted by fast pic/bot users to preserve their status quo, what a load of rubbish that was.
The pushing of the casino(slots) side is nothing short of scandalous.
The outrages of the site on an almost weekly basis are hitting back to lays or visa versa in the pocket and for a supposed middle man(betfair) are simply swept under the carpet and the tough titty rule is applied, just not good enough.
Their own bot on i/r horse racing is surely against the morals of a peer to peer site despite the claims it is to "match" people.

The now "Ratners" of the betting scene imo, gone the way of previous betting firms who have to answer to shareholders, they do but at the expense of the customer, that will only go so far, thin line.

A charge that came under the guise of hitting fastpic/bot users but simply ended up as "taxing" any winners, everyone potentially suffers due to loss of liquidity particulary by the opinionated market makers.

It is the way it is Mordin now,my answer is leave them f off unless it suits you.

Pa Lapsy anybody on here since it started in 2001 would only have to win £15000 a year before this higher premium charge kicks in.
Report pa lapsy August 29, 2017 6:37 PM BST
Ha,Mordin, imagine a poor fecker that started in 2009, ends up paying premium charge(lower rate 22.5%) in 2013 and gross profits in that spell of e9,900, rather than 15k per annum the fact is you couldn't win just over the price of a pint a day which is a truer analogy before they charged ya for the use of the glass.

That is a true reflection of nothing other that can be described as delusory, paltry or simply unbelievable, true anyway, the market makers got shafted(not me)and the rammifications of the charge can be seen in this now robot exchange.
Report Mordin. August 29, 2017 7:45 PM BST
Well said Pa. Good analogy. What do you mean by market makers got shafted?
Report pa lapsy August 29, 2017 8:02 PM BST
They were independent operators who often had an opinion and were priced out due to pc,they made the exchange from its beginnings.
The exchange rather than pre PC now have to factor that in,how can that to beneficial to ANY of their customers?
Mordin, maybe i should have said everyone rather than just market makers though it was them i think that got the most poorly treated of all pc payers.
Report Mordin. August 29, 2017 9:24 PM BST
I think the only people making decent reproducible money on exchanges on a long term basis are the traders.

Best thread i have read on here in a good while.
Sad state of affairs.

My volumes have gone down so much this wouldn't affect me but even if i won 1000 on a set of bets and lost 1000 on another set i would be giving them 50 euro for not much.
At least in the old days, volumes were there which made betting quicker and more direct and you got a wee bit more profit.

Regards Pa, hope you are well.

I'm grand Cupwinkcook, hope you are well yourself, nice to see you post.
No surprise to see your volumes gone down, why fight bot for the same price as a book with no liquidity until shortly before the off on Irish racing?

The OP is credited with one of the best expressions that can be used to describe a lot of things on here,

"Bolluxology"

" the premium charge was introduced to advertise for more customers"

No wonder at the time of the merger betfair put up forum headers banning the merger being discussed, you couldn't blame them, the question did paddy powers deliberately wanted their pants pulled down, maybe, they certainly haven't pulled them back up, i'm not pulling mine down in any case.

Best of luck in your punting Cup.
