I visited yesterday, facilities a bit primitive but overall an enjoyable day with a bit of atmosphere
good competitive racing but viewing mostly on big screen.
bookmakers are set in  3 lines looked very quiet, crowd was comfortable.
maybe they should have closed and raced elsewhere or maybe charge a bit less per meeting
without stating the obvious AP is the king of the classics

WR I would say Ivan bet the odds on the Guineas winners for sure,
maybe the powers that be wanted to race on but its a soulless place at the best of times and I wonder will they reconsider for 2018.
did anybody else attend and have any views
Brobe looked very full this evening

I was in Ballinrobe for the first time in about 10yrs last night, they have made a smashing job of it,good viewing and well spread out so not uncomfortable when the crowd is on the big side. The course has improved as well.

Which would you prefer workrider the curragh or ballinrobe?

There is only one opinion that counts regarding the Curragh and as far as that opinion goes an empty racecourse would not have gone close to countering the value of a Guineas double at headquarters.

Curragh is or was fine,I fully understand the need to upgrade, some of our courses are a shambles. The new Curragh will be a White Elephant imo with the Irish taxpayer picking up the tab as usual. Its sure to run into financial difficulties and the big boys will get it for nothing after they claim it back in tax losses imo.
Ballinrobe is a course that has moved with the times and is a credit to its owners, but I'd rather have the old Curragh .

Agree on the new Curragh being a white elephant, can't believe they're spending 70 million on the place, only ranks 7th in average attendance among Irish tracks and I really don't think that will change no matter how good the facilities get.

Give me Ballinrobe any day of the week. The curragh is a fair track with the best horse usually winning. They should close it when doing up.I suppose they dont want to lose out on the tv money.Did the Aga khan give money to the cuggagh years ago to do it up?

Nothing to do with money Cloone, the guys that now virtually own the place don't need money, they can have the going as they like it for their horses on BIG race days imo.Making stallions is their business that's the real reason they kept it open!
