They have decided they're not taking any bets immediately after the off in the labaik race today, but allow it in every other race, no shame.

They were right, the horses price would be probably halved if he got away level,no defender of them generally.
Ruby bolluxed Labaik.

I wouldn't have accepted bets either if I was a bookie or I would have invoked a 30c rule 4 at least

But why move the goal posts for one race? You either accept bets for a few seconds after the off or you don't, ye can't pick and choose what races to do so, not arsed about wether they give a refund it's the moving of goal posts when it suits them that I take issue with, pure filth.

Hard to believe the mindset of some people.U know if they take bets after the off with a 5/2 shot stood at the tape they are betting overbroke.

Bar One Racing offered cash-back for €100, if he refused to start. Even though he started to race 2 furlongs behind the field, they honoured the special.

Maybe they could have offered a "starter insurance" price. Either way PP slipping big time lately with their specials.

Who cares about their specials, they don't lay a bet anyway, actually laying some would be a good starting point

i hate powers but the op is daft if he thinks its unfair not to allow bets after the off in this race given what known about labaik

He's a runner in the champion hurdle on from day, and Gordon has said labaik will "definitely jump off"
I wonder will PP do the same every time labaik runs,
Btw Boyles and bet victor both refunded labaik backers yesterday

How can Gordon say he will definitely jump off, what a load of nonsense.
How could anyone predict what labaik will do with certainty

Think you’re way off the mark here CR. Bets after the off is effectively a concession. You can hardly blame someone for protecting their books given the nature of the race on Tuesday. Labaik was a 5/4 shot available at 3/1. People can't reasonably have expected to take this price after getting a free shot at the first part of the double (him jumping off).

PP offered starters insurance on Labaik and refunded despite the horse jumping off eventually. They also priced up the horse to start with the rest of the field.

Labaik probably has a better chance in a bigger field on Friday. Interesting to see does Davy try anything different. They are using the loophole of him starting two furlongs behind the rest to avoid being banned currently. Surely the stewards have to look at issuing performance warnings at this point to avoid further farce.

I totally understand Powers taking that stance with Labaik the other day. Common sense.   What worries me though is the fact that they are deliberately cutting the price of known non runners a mintute or two before suspending the betting. (on morning/early priced market).  Seems to be happening more and more these days especiaaly on the UK racing with the smaller fields. There was a race the other day in Wincanton when a horse was available at 11/2 in the early prices for at least 4 hours. Then suddenly Powers slashed it to 4/1.   2 mins later they suspended the market because the horse they had cut in price was declared a non runner.  No prizes for guessing why they cut the price.......   and it's a million they cut it because they took a big bet on it.

glad someone else notices this joe,its disgusting behaviour.this is theft/fraud imo because effectively they are stealing money off everyone who has already backed whichever horse goes on to be the eventual winner of the race.i notice it regularly while scanning oddschecker, blatantly obvious especially when said horse is bigger anyway with most other firms on oddschecker, hence if there was actual money for the horse it wouldnt be powers shortening it first off.

On this occasion only one other bookmaker cut the horse from 11/2(which was freely available at the time} to 4/1.  The other bookmaker was Betfair Sportsbook.  The other firms did not cut the price at all.   I'm not saying anything ontoward was going on here. Just conquencidental i suspect!!!
