Had my first look at the course today and was pleasantly surprised, some heavy odds on shots that were impossible to back for the working man. Family day and kids all over the place, mostly well behaved I might add, smashing track to watch racing from. No eating place as such, only in the private suites ,plenty of stalls with the usual stuff. They say the Scottish are mean, well how about this for meaness,a Grandmother was trying to get her Grandson to kiss her ticket for luck, he was having none of it.She promised him half her winning if he kissed it , kid didn't want to know, till its Mother asked him to for her sake.He eventually kiss's the ticket and the Granny says thanks ,and if it wins I'll give you a POUND,miserable old cow.Minellacelebration got me out of trouble there today.
Ludlow tomorrow .

good to hear you were pleasantly surprised with chepstow workrider, the place gets a lot of stick over here which it does not deserve,i have always thought it was a good place to go for national hunt racing.

have you been to kelso yet or is that still on your list ?

Did Kelso about two years ago,the drive from Durham to Kelso should be experienced at least once in a lifetime, simply stunning.Had to buy a new sat nav this morning other one went sick.

Ludlow, think I've fallen in love with the place, beautiful town, one of the nicest in England by a long chalk.Aftertiming I know but backed 4 winners there last night in 5 races, other one beaten a s/h.Lovely track if a little tight, excellent viewing from the rooftop.Never saw  as many roads on a racetrack, you park on one of the fairways I'd say the members of the golf club are not a happy bunch when the going is heavy.
Cheltenham today, for those older formites, I'm meeting Orchardist and his wife later.Happy punting .

Its gets better lads, backed 3 winners there today, Doing fine 3/1 thought Noel gave it a master ride,Iora Glas 8/1 missed the announcement that Twiston was on board and felt a right **** calling home Paddy.Blush.Silverhow in the last 4/1 put the icing on the cake in the last.Only punting small there today £40 on each, but a nice way to keep the wolf from the door.I know I'll be called a after timer of the highest order but so what! Was going to go to Taunton tomorrow but its a bit far and a evening meet to boot,I'm starting out early for Holyhead on Fri morning so will do Cheltenham tomorrow as well .The new stand is magic and puts our tracks to shame,we really need to move forward.

Good to hear the trip is going well WR. Agreed re Cheltenham. They done an amazing job with the place. Fingers crossed The Curragh looks even half as good. Out of interest does there be much of a crowd at this meeting?

I thought there was a very good crowd, got talking to a few members and they said it was quiet by Cheltenham standards. They get much bigger crowds than we do,there again you have to consider the 2 populations.

Monarch, that's bigger crowds overall in England not just Cheltenham.

Been heading over to the November meeting for the last 10 years or so. Love  Cheltenham as a town but always find that because of the crowds in November i dont ever really explore the town itself properly. Often thought this April meeting could be one to go too and give myself a proper look round the place. Some great bars and restaurants throughout the town if you can get into them

A vibrant town alright, taking the time out to view the town is a good idea,a little expensive if you go into the likes of the Queens etc, I stayed in the Queens and found it okay,a little old world and dated tbh.Rooms are old fashioned like a lot of English   Country homes ,stayed in another hotel come Country House in Durham with a golf course, to say it was old world would be a understatement, the carpets had more holes in it than the golf course!.

A disaster there today, never touched a winner, decided to follow Dickie today never at the races.Backed Henderson's in the first, thought McGrath gave it a stinker, funny old game this,on a high one minute out with the begging bowl the next...Home tomorrow.

Don't know tbh,my son was there and said we were 1-0 with 4 mins to h/time,then fell asunder ,no discipline it seems.Another player getting send off doesn't help.It seems to me that there are too many chiefs in the dugout ,Bradley is looking more like a figurehead than a coach, playing 1 upfront is outdated and proved unworkable seems to have passed them by. The way we played against Cork was outstanding we deserved to have beaten them, yet he reverts to this crap of 1 upfront the next week.Fear seems to be the ruler in Tallaght, setting up not to lose rather than setting up to win .
