"I've always said he's our best work horse in the yard."
"I don't care if he never jumps off again!" Both quotes courtesy of the jubilant winning trainer. One presumes the new owner is relying on the former. |

A Dodgy purchase imo.
By:
Not really if you've an endless supply of cash, plus I'm sure his reluctance at the tapes was factored into the price
By:
Its amazing he was'nt reluctant on the day that mattered
By:
Arkle, that's down too his run at Naas, even though he didn't jump off with the rest,Kenneddy getting him to jump and race after them was the trick.
By:
The only reason he jumped off at Cheltenham was the sound of the long tom behind him.
By:
He won bloody easily though, and factoring in how well thought of Meolon was; you'd think he'd nearly have to be a champion hurdle horse. Melon ran like an absolute pro, Labaik must be very good.

I think I read somewhere o ryan paid 26k for him, I would imagine he got at least 10 times that now even with his problems .
Might not even be a problem in the UK anyway. |
By:
On further thought I'd throw an extra 100k on that 10 times valuation.
By:
Has it been revealed who's purchased him yet?
By:
JP or Barry would be my guess
By:
Maybe throw in the Rooneys too.
By:
If its Barry, I can guarantee you he will never jump off again!
By:
![]() Its got Barry Connell written all over it.... and its 1.01 it will never budge on a racecourse again if he did buy it as neill d has stated ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If it was him good luck to him ,, deserves a bit of luck for our connor alone not to mention the thousands he pumps into the industry.

By:
I'd be surprised if it's anyone bar jp tbh
By:
It appears he hasn't been sold yet!
Goes to Aintree sale |

With his chequered history and full potential probably reached or at least very close to and the expected price level i cant see too many of the big guns being interested so a bidding war might not happen.
Its a bit different with a good looking store or a young ptp winner when everyone wants to get the expected next big thing. They might have been better to try get the private deal over the line. |
By:
He should appeal to a few big players in the UK. No long tom allowed in Ireland so the lads can't be certain he will jump off. Talented horse who would and would be a great addition to a lad starting off his training career

On what basis has he reached his potential?
Paul Nicholls should be busting a nut to get him, he really should. |

Neill, I don't mean its down hill from here just that his form is known now and its good enough to put him in the CH picture.
Elliot would have had him spot on for that Tuesday and would another trainer eek out much more improvement ? Being a grandson of montjue temperament is an issue as we know , first it was the stalls then the NH start , how long before he ignores the long tom ?. A fall or really tough race and he might decide that's it for him and race with the handbrake on or even refuse at a hurdle. My point is if he was a young pointer a lot of people would think they could sort him out but he's now on his third good trainer and the problems persist. Good luck to whoever buys him though and O Ryan will still get a very healthy return on his purchase price to go with some good days out with him. |
By:
That's a valid opinion in fairness olddesperado, can see where you're coming from. For the horse, I'd have said its crucial he stays with Elliot; but if I was any English trainer other than Henderson, I'd be all over him trying to buy.
I'd be encouraged by the fact he is a good work horse that stayed well up the hill in Cheltenham. |

By:

By:
It gets more interesting by the day, will it be allowed run anywhere now ?
By:
I see a partnership registered today

i would imagine he has decreased a bit in value.
Still a mind of his own but as i said earlier on this thread his ability was in the open and he had very little improvement left in him so while a good horse by no means a world beater which is what all the rich guys are after. He would still make a decent price but the guys who dont care what they pay probably woudnt be too interested now. !50 to 200 would be my guess now and thats only because he hasnt raced in England since. I,d aell before he heads over again. |
By:
would still prob have won yesterday if jumping a bit quicker
