... useless so-and-sos. Most in Ireland , and the UK, complain about how difficult it is to make ends meet and yet we have Gordon Elliott who 10 years ago hadnt trained a winner in Ireland showing everyone how's it done. Surely hard work and attention to detail have a lot to do with it. Only a couple of years back GE used have droves of horses running for small money in places like Perth while most of the other trainers, on both sides of the pond, just sat on their hands complaining. The down side to his emergence is that there will be even less prize money available to the other trainers.
Gordon is driven and deserves all the plaudits. I remember him starting out, he rode a few pointers for us and always enquired on a Monday how the horses came out of their races. He is a top man with a great team behind him. He has come a long way in 10 years.

I especially like the way these talented young trainers (who aren't exactly over scientific in their approach) are able to improve a horse 20lbs within 6-8 weeks. The naivety of general public is something else.

Chris Brown, I take it you know very little about racing. Take a trip to a proper outfit and a two bob outfit, you will see the difference straight away. I think all in the racing game know the trainers that have left a few lengths in their horses. Instead of questioning hard graft have a look at the what the poor outfits don't do.

They took a brilliant photo of all involved last Sunday in the parade ring, most were lads and lasses but every single one was beaming, some buzz in the yard at the moment i'd say.

While i would improve one myself from the likes of Rothwell, i think you would have to be very naive to think there arent drugs at play also. In fact we all know there is......If you can get away with it, im all for it.

Do you think Fenton was an isolated case? I certainly dont. The majority of top lads are all at it and its got to the stage where they are too big to bring down. We can all guess who. I will say that if it was a level playing field the cream would still rise to the top because their attention to detail is second to none.

Think even Kimmage might be intimidated by the idea of Magnier having a word with Denis O'Brien. He's fallen out with the Sunday Times, there really isn't anywhere else to go.
I think the rugby stuff is an easy play on his part, its on his doorstep. It's completely rife in Boxing, as in the likes of Pacquaio, Floyd, all of the top guys.

Almost impossible to catch which is the big problem
Italian researchers investigating the ability of performance horses to process the anti-inflammatory painkiller phenylbutazone suggest a withdrawal time of five days may be appropriate for a five-day course at a once-a-day dose rate of 4.4 mg/kg.
The FEI, in its Clean Sport documentation, notes a detection time in blood plasma of 168 hours (seven days) for the drug for a range of common course regimes and doses.

Thought they'd all move in the same circles Ozy? Can only think that's why as there's loads to work with in the Racing game.
Tweeted him about that Coolmore book and he didn't want to know about that either. Reckon he's at the stage now where he has the name for being an aggressive investigative journalist and he can live comfortably off that doing interesting long-formish interviews.
I think the Rugby stuff is pretty opportunistic, he's availing of the fact that the Rugby fraternity have to be seen to have an ear to the concussion/and or drugs stuff. It's pretty clear in Ireland that they are doing their best to address these issues. Look at the way Sexton is being looked after.
Some win by United tonight, Mikh has the highest football IQ at Old Trafford since Scholes.

Kimmage is not a wealthy man after the court cases he has been embroiled in, I just reckon he reckons he needs to draw back.
I think he won't touch the drug issues in Boxing, either, because he knows someone like Bob Arum would litigate straight away and has a $30k per day barrister retained!

Dennis O'Brien and Michael O'Leary both worked for Tony Ryan, that might be a link. Presume Magnier is in with all of those.
Apparently there was some sh*t with Montjeu and the insurance situation that animal rights would be all over if that book the ex-employee wrote were to be published, lots of other meat in it re employment conditions. I'd have thought Kimmage would be all over it.
The guy who wrote the book is e-mailing it to people on request and fielding letters from Arthur Cox! Where's PK?

I had exactly that thought, Scholes...with pace and mobility! Was drooling at certain points.

I would have thought Magnier would be more likely to associate with someone like Tony Reilly...an arch enemy of Denis O'Brien. Dunno..pure speculation.
