Getting winners in the handicaps will be tough,  Sambremont in the 2.20 is worth a few Shekels,   a few future cheltenham winners in the novices races as well.

GORDON ELLIOTT fired in six of the best, at astounding odds of 41,276-1, at Navan on Sunday and bookmakers immediately shortened his odds of dethroning Willie Mullins.

Elliott only failed to win the beginners' chase won by the Mullins-trained Min on the seven-race card and topped off the achievement by completing a hat-trick in the feature Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap with the success of Empire Of Dirt (12-1).

The County Meath trainer said: "It was one of those days I thought we had plenty of chances but six winners is unbelievable.

"Everything is going so well you hope things will work out, but it is the team that keeps things going - I get to pick up the trophies but they are the ones at the back and without them I couldn't do it."

Anyone else think  Patrick rode a stinker in the last, pocket talk I know only bet I had all day, thought he should have kicked on turning in,instead he dropped  her back a couple of places, had a look at the winner in the paddock and wouldn't have backed her with stolen money, how wrong can you be.
Report The Gotchee November 27, 2016 7:57 PM GMT
Agree WR.
I might be pocket talking but I thought he should have kicked on with two and a half to go.
The way  she stayed on at the end suggested that she would have won if ridden more positively.
In fairness, JJ Codd tracked her all the way and seized his opportunity while Patrick was showboating.

Not sure he would have won lads but would have gone a hell of a lot closer had he got involved a bit earlier,a horse like that needs a bit of winding up and that's not to put too much of a point on it.
Report workrider November 27, 2016 9:04 PM GMT
Glad to see we are all in agreement on that.
Report CheltenhamRoar November 27, 2016 9:15 PM GMT
That's the problem with Patrick, because he's been on so many steering jobs in the past cokkiness is now part of his nature in these bumpers,
He looks like a great jockey on the steering jobs, but when push comes to shove and he has to do a bit of work he looks dreadful in the saddle, today been case in point and I backed the Harrington horse.

It is either cruisin or kitchen sink, doubt it would have won though stayed on well.

Ruby was terrible on The Crafty Butcher, rightly got a few comments on the HR forum, Mick Fitz said the horse took a while to pick up,of course it did,it was a couple of lengths off turning in,Enzo agrees.

Death Duty still on track for Gold cup winner 2019.

Pa, weather it would or not is not the issue, point been he should have kicked and made them use up petrol to get to him, the winner looked the first of the trio beat. Willies are not firing just yet, some either short of work ,or like a couple today simply didn't get home.
Report CALLING CARD November 27, 2016 9:34 PM GMT
Willies in the first 2 races found precious little off the bridle , most unusual for his yard.
G Elliot feat of training 6 winners today is brilliant by any standards and I doff my cap to him
its going to be some season until Ptown
on another topic I heard today from a bookmaker that their assoc is in turmoil at present ,
anybody got any knowledge on that front

Workrider as everyone was agreeing on a thread,i was as well, i just think Patrick is "one dimensional" with his riding(not a real criticism btw) there seems to be little middle ground between being on the bit and flaking goodo.
9 from last 20 have won for WPM, a good strike rate,i know what you mean though, since he seemed to have a couple of weeks holidays last month, i'm not convinced they are at their best either.
Report The Gotchee November 27, 2016 9:38 PM GMT
As a matter of interest. Has  G Elliott done something that the likes of Vincent, Aiden, Dermot and Willie has never achieved? 6 winners on the one card?
Has any other Irish trainer had a six timer?
Report workrider November 27, 2016 9:40 PM GMT
Had a look at some of them today in paddock Pa, thought Lovelaughlive looked forward enough though no bet,yet found little after third last, first one finished legless, Min looked well but not fully wound ,much more to come from him I'd say.
Report workrider November 27, 2016 9:43 PM GMT
The Gotchee, did a Ozy on it, nothing coming up on google to say any other Irish trainer had six on one card .

People don't seem to think willie losing the Giggy horses will have any affect on him,
It will have a big affect and time will prove this, will only benefit Irish racing as it was Irish racing was in danger of been totally monopolised by Mullins and me thinks this was getting to willies head!

Ps hugely impressed with empire of dirt today, Lexus could be well within range.
