Just thinking the same ,what would Kinlough Brea have done to this lot ,was wondering what the weather was like down Clonmel way .
When you think of the roll call of past winners of this race it puts todays renewal in perspective. Dorans Pride won it 3 times in a row. War of Attrition, Edredon Bleu, Sizing Europe etc. Nothing in todays race would stand a chance against any of the horses i mentioned. Shame as a race i always look forward to in the early season.
It's certainly up to the average standard of the last 10 years. Certainly no worse than the renewals won by Tranquil Sea, Mossbank, Glenfinn Captain and Sir OJ. Hardly been a really decent renewal in years, with a couple of exception and 1/7 Sizing Europe tells how good it was that year outside of the fav.

Barry went for everything there, only mistake the horse made.Wouldn't have won though imo.
The trials and tribulations of jump racing ,i thought Cooper faultless myself even if it cost me a right few Euro.
Of course he was Frank, horse got right underneath the fence.
Cooper has got a his fair share of criticism down the years some of it Justified W/R, I daresay Mr o Leary and Co wouldn.t be hanging on to him if he wasn;t good enough.

Norn backed it myself at D.R. tbs to fav, and had no problem with its jumping that day . It just put in one stride two many today and got right under the fence.

In the meantime, OUTLANDER wins a LEXUS at Leopardstown and Champion Chase in the Maze (for Jack Kennedy and Gordon Elliott).
The Gigginstown gelding gave Kennedy his first ever top grade success when landing the Lexus at Leopardstown last Christmas. His form tailed off after that, however, and he was sent to post a 16/1 shot in Down Royal having finished well behind on his return at Punchestown. “He was back to himself today. He was very disappointing in Punchestown the last day. I know it was his first run of the season but he never jumped a fence or anything,” said Kennedy.
“Emily McMahon had him out hunting last week and she done a good job with him as he's back to himself thank god. He never missed a beat the whole way today and he jumped brilliant. The cheek-pieces seemed to help as he travelled great. I'm delighted. We were spread out across the track and maybe if we had been a bit closer he might have even pulled clear. He was very tough."

Nice winner.
Some standard of horse now running even midweek,impressive winners in the giggs colours today and they have a look of 2nd division about them.
Davy Russell was beat today but he is riding near his best.

IR - Mullins collects at Clonmel after 'chancing it' with Kemboy - "I hadn't him declared at 10am yesterday and with the new HRI initiative of reopening races with a small amount of runners, he was the first one I've ever declared after 10am. I said we'd chance it and it worked out for us,. I was delighted with him because I didn't think he could be that straight and I wondered was I running him too quick before the Ladbrokes (Trophy, at Newbury). He was very fresh and very free and that was smart to do that today. I imagine he goes to the Ladbrokes now and I'm told he has a mandatory 4lbs penalty for winning this.
I had Paul on the two chasers today and Ruby on the hurdlers, that's all, and with the big weekend ahead that was the only reason.
Paul was good on this fellow before and I don't know if there is a queue to ride Camelia De Cotte (in the next)!. And Paul is going well in the Championship too so I'd be delighted to see him Champion again but who knows as it's an open year. Jason Morris, of HRI - his mother died so condolences to him and his family.
