I just looked at him winning in Monksgrange, where he won a 7 runner maiden by a length, and to my eyes was all out as well. He displayed a marked tendency to jump right so will surely be disadvantaged at the top tracks going left handed. The horse he beat runs today in an ordinary 2m 4 maiden hurdle at Chepstow so that will be a test of the form. On a side note what were the people who bought Elegant Escape thinking of ?, giving 150 k for a horse out of Elliott's. Do they not think that Gigginstown and McManus weren't aware of his availability?
To me what's happened here is , connections of Samcro bring him to some hedge school point with about 4 bookies, and back their so called wonder horse into 2/5, which would take about a grand at one of these meets.
The point to point men who have an affinity with favourites are now falling over themselves hailing this so called second coming.
Mags O Toole puts up her hand in Aintree and O Leary pays the piper yet again .
Time will tell but to me he's a €40k horse and not the 400 that he cost.

He may be a looker
He is by the now deceased Germany so they might think he's another Faugheen.

Monksgrange wouldn't strike me as a great point to point although that seems to be changing all the time.
Seems a ludicrous price all the same.

Sounds nuts. Paul Nicholls seems to buy very few from Ireland these days, this kind of thing must be why.

The one bit of value in bloodstock at the moment seems to be Cape Cross standing at 20k. Sire of Sea The Stars, Golden Horn and a few more. If you have the land, & someone to look after them, I'd sooner get a few mares, do that with 400k and you might end up with a NH horse, anyway!

Homebreds seem to be doing better these days as well, the likes of Cue Card & Thistlecrack. Some of these Point horses seem to have a really short lifespan as they're geared up for their points.

400k would get you a few middle distance Group 3 horses out of somewhere like John Gosdons, send them hurdling, if they don't like it then you can try Dubai in January.

Was Faugheen really heralded? He was less than 100k I thought I read, bit of an indictment of the scene. Think Min was bought in France for under 30k, same with a few more of Mullins.

400k used to get you Kauto Star, Long Run or Masterminded.

The like of Colin Bowe and the Doyles will have it ruined for everyone in the next few years.  Horses wound up to the last for their points and sold for big money!!

Nearly £4,000 back there. Owner seems more than happy with his purchase , nothing to see here...
