Very tough game, probably the toughest after criminality. He has to make a living, I've less issue with this if it means he shuts his fckin mouth. Take the money and shut your mouth like a good man, Paddy.
i certainly wudnt be cheering anyone on who has anything to do with that crowd.
I can see why he did it, no certainty he'll make a dent as a pro as he is so late turning over, but he should've just said nothing.
Ken Egan criticised him, but was kind of making out that he didn't know the full extent of what they're doing being from the North, course he does.
His career will be moved really quickly and one loss (loads of unknown killers at those lighter weights in Asia, South/Central America) could potentially ruin him.
He has been on 40k per year the last while, probably added 6 figures to that as a signing on fee here, but that isn't a fortune for a young guy with a family.
I actually don't have that much of an issue with him taking it because of his situation, but playing dumb to what it is an insult to people's intelligence.
Interesting that Michael Conlan is managed by Macklin, but is with Top Rank. really shrewd move as they build their fighters really well. Golden Boy and PBC are in a tight spot at the minute with money and lack of TV dates. Top Rank are only going to get stronger. Really shrewd move by Conlan.
I wonder does Paddy regret staying amateur so long, his stock was probably the lowest it had ever been after the Olympics and it might be that the K offer was that much better financially than any other, he just had to take it.
Conlan is going to be a huge star. Would be great if they can make the Frampton fight if Carl hangs around long enough and Conlan moves quick. Probably the biggest fight out there for both, hype would be huge.
