Plus they serve up the dreary asinine canard about 'beating the Brits'. Ye Gods, will Irish people ever get beyond this stunted nonsense ?
By:
They come across as 2 great lads. A most refreshing antidote the usual ar*eholes we send to the Olympics.
I would love to see them win a medal, and wish them all the best. |

Vubiant.....The David and Goliath scenario will always be alive in sport.
By:
It is more like the chip on the shoulder about Britain will always be alive in Irish sport. An independent nation for nearly 100 years and they still just want to beat the Brits.
By:
wow gfair play to them..so so close to gold..im sure silver will be well celebrated today and tonight in skibb!!
By:
They did well to be fair.
By:
Fair play to the pair of them even clerkmore and ozymandius might even say something positive.
By:
Very exciting, i was roarin, well done to them.
By:
GANT007, does my comment at 2.54 count as positive?
By:
It does, fair play to you.

Womens 10000 metres just lit up the Olympics . World record smashed , someone managed to get £16 at 1000 . Fair play to them . Looks like the women are taking over the world .
By:
That must be a pretty doubtful record.
By:
Well done the O'Donovans . Silver .
By:
Neill d , best women distance runner ever in Olympic terms . Second and third are also in top 5 of all time for women at that distance . Form perfect . Winner was never bigger than 1/3 pre and during event as far as I know .

Watching it there, she looked geared up to her eyeballs to me. Bit like Lance going through the mountains at the Tour De France. Fair Play Sonia.
By:
Sonia o'Sullivan is telling us the score here. A runner would know.
By:
yea very doubtful ..sonia saying the first 9 broke olympic record?and winner beat 23 yr old record(a chinese runner who herself was doubtful)by 17 seconds..the length of the straight and more..hmmm
By:
The performance reminded me of Floyd Landis' performance in the TDF of 2006 stage 17. An absolute freak show which shows what an absolute joke the Olympics has become.
The kenyan sprint coach has been sent home for posing as athletes when giving samples ![]() http://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/37053928 |
By:
and sonia is spot on, its not just teh winner. id say most of that field were on gear.
By:
it seems to be gone out of control..the year the chinese won it we thought that was a freak that would never be beaten.. 23 yrs and 17 seconds later we got our answer
By:
Fair play to the Scchhhkibbb boyos.
There is a whiff of the Healy Raes about them, only with baseball caps on backwards rather than tweed caps. Anyway, hats off to them. |
By:
just another note, Johanne Cantwell was a joke (nothing new with rte presenters). Sniveling to confirm how sonia was not accusing anyone of doping and how it was sad how an athlete like sonia was doubting great performances. Sonia showed backbone saying what she did.
By:
When Joanne speaks she is representing RTE and they could be open to a law suit.
Sonia is a paid pundit and only giving her opinion. |
By:
Sonia kacked herself when she had a glorious opportunity to win gold.
Poor form, the way she denigrated the Ethiopan's world record winning performance and without any evidence. Sonia is a bit like ,kavvie, full of Sh1t. |
By:
fair play gotchee you never disappoint..so 17 seconds off a wr after 23 years and no sign of any breathlessness is perfectly normal? explain please
By:
just when you think the gotchee has finished, he goes an makes an absolute clown of himself yet again.
17 seconds off an athlete who has admitted partaking in state sponsored doping ![]() good auld Gotchee, never leaves us down |
By:
Great silver medal
RTE coverage is shockingly bad,htf do these people get jobs ? |
By:
There are a few people on the Irish forum who are very good at rowing.
By:
The first 13 runners home in that 10k race between them set world records, national records or personal bests.
18 individual personal bests were achieved in the field of 35 runners. The newly laid track, according to the company that laid it and athletes who have trained on it,is the fastest ever. |
By:
Incredible athletics tonight . Topped off by the pole vault , worth giving up the shuteye for a stupendous Brazilian winners , dramatic !
By:
The athletics after just 3 days are turning into one of the best meetings I've ever seen. Pole vault was an awesome spectacle.
