Favourite Paul Carberry ride....???

Go Native, Supreme Novices Hurdle, Cheltenham 07'.

He mostly rode average horses in the time I have followed racing. I've probably seen his declining years more where he had as many shockers as inspired moments.

Probably has about twice as much natural talent as anybody riding in the UK at the minute. Probably a bit of a waste of talent, actually. Role of honour isn't much when you look.

I get the sense he was the only jock Ruby really thought might have been better than he he was.

Hard to sum up a long career in a few sentences . Harchibald his most remembered horse , for a variety of reasons . Rode a lot of good horses in his day , Beeforsalmon winning cheekily for him got him into a bit of trouble .

Strangely I dont think I ever backed him and felt sore over a so called bad ride , maybe he was just lucky for me .  Not many like him talentwise in a generation . Will be missed .

For personal reasons his ride on Frenchans Creek (William Hill Chase Cheltenham 2002) epitomised a Carberry ride.   Horse is a poor jumper and a real monkey.   This day he got it settled and despite looking like going nowhere 3 out, he wins on the snaff.

Martin Scruff under a mandatory penalty at Punchestown in 2011 for Elliot/Mulryan.

For me its a losing ride but his riding of the no hoper Three Brownies in Rough Quests Grand National was supreme and showed off all his poise and natural horsemanship.

Yeah, Martin Scruff really highlights how far the game has come in 5 years!

Martin Scruff, Bellvano and Monbeg Dude, that's all I really remember of the later part of his career.

Think they thought Iktitaf was going to be very good, for all his injuries, he didn't actually miss much.

Would never doubt his talent Wildman, I think he had a slightly negative influence on others that followed him though in terms of an occasional taste for a ride that looked stylish, but didn't actually enhance his horses chances of obtaining the best position.

Looking elegant, messing up and then getting style points from the guys on TV. Infuriating to punters and athe owners at the top end probably, the approach probably cost people like Jamie Spencer.
