Great Win for Frampton and his team (Shane and Barry).

Carl is a very decent guy, will make time for the ordinary joe soap on the street (even now). Very accomplished boxer going back to his days in the Irish High performance team, gone from strength to strength since going Pro and now a two weight world champion. Nice that he won Barry Mc G old belt last night!

The fact that Barry McGuigan thinks so highly of Frampton as a boxer and a person is a good enough  imprimatur for me . Frampton hails from Tiger Bay , well known in these parts for ultra loyalism , but Frampton seems to have been able to cross the divide fan and behaviour wise . Might just prove to be the most successful Irish boxer to date .

I Well remember Barry McGuigan Vs Eusebio Pedroza fight in Q.P.R. ground , Pedroza was world champ and unbeaten for 7years but Barry fought the best fight of his life to win the World title, I like Frampton as a person and a fighter,    any one like to see the Pedroza fight here is the link,

I see Rory has injected himself into the equation. Touch of the Taylor Swift about him these days. Should focus on his golf.

Frampton is a great fighter, but he did run scared of Rigondeaux at Supe-Bantam. The line from McGuigan about Rigo bringing no fan base, television deal or any excitement in-ring was a red herring. Rigondeaux/Frampton in Belfast would have been huge. The reason why it didn't happen is that they knew they would probably lose. Hope Rigo steps up to featherweight, but even if he does, they won't make it.

That is not to take away from Carl who is a wonderful fighter. Technically brilliant but in a fan friendly way. Stayed in on Saturday night to stream it (wanted to watch it sober), it was a fight of the year contendert

The McGuigans have brought along Frampton brilliantly. However this fight was hidden away on Box Nation. frampton has had fights on ITV, but I wonder do they regret falling out with the Hearns as it doing that basically closes off to a large degree Sky Sports.

That was a great fight, but it won't benefit from the Sky hype treatment. Unless they can get on terrestrial, I think the McGuigans have made a mistake with their TV dealings. Fighters below light-weight will never be PPV in America these days either so that probably isn't a viable revenue stream.

also to suggest that the fight was "hidden away" on box nation is rather misleading.i have had the chanel myself for years and a number of friends do also.it was very well publicised beforehand that the fight was on box nation and anyone who wanted to watch it was able to.its certainly much better value to subscribe to box nation for a whole month than it would be to pay a rip-off 20 quid or so for a few hrs of coverage to watch frampton on sky PPV if hearn still had anything to do with him.

P.S.  i was having a chat with a  Croatian M.M.A .fighter while on holidays a weeks ago, he was Amazed at the the number of medals Ireland won in the last olympics IN london in boxing, we finished ahead of USA,China, and we finished tied with Cuba, [total 4] For a country with 4.6millon not bad.

Had never seen him take any interest in Boxing before and then shows up ringside on the big night. If he is a fan, fair enough. He has never shown any prior inclination to my knowledge.

The exposure he would've gotten from Sky wouuld've been greater. Box Nation is a poorly promoted channel, it being value for money for the consumer has nothing to do with it. If it wasn't for Bill Ives poring money into it, it wouldn't still exist. You can see the pressure Frank Warren is under in every interview he gives, and I like Frank, he has been a great promoter and is a proper boxing person in it for the long haul unlike the Hearns. A great survivor.

Frampton/Santa cruz wouldn't have been PPV on Sky either. Not a hope in hell.

rory is obviously a very busy guy neill incase you were'nt aware,especially at weekends funnily enough!! i did see see him mention in interview how he would have liked to have been at other fights.

Which is effectively the same thing. Incidentally, Frampton looked completely bemused by his presence in the dressing room after. Get off McIlroys d!ck! I find the sight of him constantly aligning himself with top Northern Irish sports people/teams on the brink of success pretty tedious. But hey, that's just me. Why not maybe have a quite word of congratulations for Carl when the cameras aren't rolling. I would find that more sincere, but again, that's just me.

It wouldn't have been on PPV because

A) it was on at 5 o'clock in the morning, only the likes of Lewis, Hatton and Hamed could command PPV fighting at those times in America. Kell Brook wasn't PPV when he won his belt against Porter over there.

B) As a follow on to the above, Frampton is a bigger star in Irelaand and Northern Ireland than in the UK. The numbers for Frampton/Quigg on PPV weren't great.

the fight wasnt on at 5 in the morning either,the first round started before 4am!! with the build up and other fights there could have easily been a ppv event from about 1am onwards.this was also a much bigger fight than than frampton/quigg.

They could have but they wouldn't have. They didn't for Brook so why would they for Frampton? It wouldn't have made money. It is treatment reserved for only a hand full of fighters in a generation.

In no way did I say I wanted to dictate who attended Frampton's fights. I was just commenting on what I see as a branding exercise on the part of McIlroy.

That's a fantastic promo Ozy. American combat sports do them really well, better than most movie trailers I see. Really looking forward to this on the 20th. I was really impressed by the way McGregor conducted himself in defeat and am really rooting for him now. There'll be parties all over the country for this, people watching it with friends, will be a great night.

Nice link Ozy, I have seen most Nate Diaz Fights on you tube and he gets better as the fight goes on, I doubt if Conor can K.O. him with a punch and he wont win by Submission, Conor best way to win is by his kicking which was terrible in the last fight, we all want the Conor to win [so do ufc] but Diaz is a good bet here at 2.14.

Is this guy Diaz language a disgrace , every second word is an expletive , not that Conor is much better. I suppose its the street fighter in them...In think Conor has made a mistake going up so much in the weights...

Just to throw a pebble in the pool , what are the odds  Rory would show up in Croke Park if his fellow Down people were in An All-Ireland football final ( unlikely in current circumstances ) . His mothers brother played for Armagh in the eighties as I recall .

This busines the media have of promoting events annoys me .  Ok if the "celebrities " involved have any part to play in the event , but if it mainly becomes a photo opportunity .... The Brits are very much into this type of behaviour , Wimbledon , Royal boxes etc , Ascot , just dont think we Irish should follow so slavishly .

Rory made a real pigs ear out of missing the cut last week . Cost people who backed him to make the cut a fair bit of money , lets not forget them  , they could be classified as the " supporters " he let down .

It was the way it panned out that rankled with most people , inside info .  Apparently he was unaware of what he needed to do to make the cut .  That is unprofessional in the extreme . And it says more than the language it involves .
