Some might think that he's being disappointing in his last two runs. Ascot was on much softer ground than ideal and as we all know was ridden from way too far out of his ground. Yes he was slowly away but Frankie should never have been allowed that much rope. The eclipse was 10 furlongs on soft ground which is exactly what he doesn't want, it blunted his speed and was simply outstayed.
Tomorrow he gets his French guineas conditions, one mile on good ground (some showers forecast but still be plenty of good in it). I have being punting this for the last week, he will have way too many gears for these tomorrow. 2/1 with 365 is generous, I'd have him a shade of odds on.
According to the formbook his last 3 runs were on SOFT ground ,tomorrows ground is good on the straight course ,gd to firm on the round ,so how you can say that he has his French gns ground is beyond me ....

Most things are beyond you, your form book obviously doesn't include Deauville where he bolted up on good ground directly before his 2 most recent runs on soft ground.
Really isn't that difficult to comprehend.

The main man is unwell so not punting but someone is punting the bejaysus out of their horses especially on their sojourns to England. Whoever he is seems to ignore the horses running in Ireland.
Caravaggio,The Gurkha and Even Song were punted for pounds shillings and pence in Ascot. Alice Springs another spectacular at Newmarket. Highland Reel punted off the boards in the King George. War Decree not as heavily but twice well punted.
My advice would be if you fancy it punt it as soon as possible because whoever is plunging on the OBrien horses will plunge again tomorrow

Agree with you completely, DJ. He has everything I like in a miler tbh. Very excited about watching him even, The boys need him to win badly as well. He won't be spared.

Neil D, the race I always look forward to most this week.
I am not sure what Mayo Man /WR are on about in terms of the ground at Deauville. It was like the road that day as a cursory glance at Ryan Moore's column verifies,he believed good ground was an under-estimate and it was actually quicker. If someone mentions his maiden win was on soft ground, close the door.
RTE will be relieved that the ground has currently gone against Pyromniac for Thursday, I don't think they could handle that potato. He's extremely well handicapped in both codes but needs goodish ground.
A few seconds for Martin this week so far already. The contrast in how Elliot and Martin's careers have gone in the last few years is stark. Martin just loves the stroking too much.

I'd say it will be brutal when they are talking about him in the parade ring, total meltdown if he were to win it, they just wouldn't be able to deal with it at all. Robert will probably make the comments.
Martin is turning in to a huge waste of talent when compared to someone like Elliot who always seems to do the right thing. Even tonight, over in Perth being the diligent trainer! I was really surprised when O'Leary took the horses away, but quiet spell + dodgy reputation is a bad combination. I'd never doubt the man's talent, though.
Love this week of Racing, probably my favourite after Cheltenham and Christmas. Great punting meeting is Goodwood and the Sussex as a race. Was looking and I noticed that Hawkbill has a load of Northern dancer in his pedigree, I thought he won the Eclipse in the manner of a horse with no bottom to him. reminded me of one of Aidan's.
Time might show that Eclipse effort to be really good in completely the wrong conditions. If he was housed elsewhere, I'd have even more belief in Hawkbill.
the Gurkha has done nothing but impress me this year, even in defeat and I'd be surprised if he doesn't win tomorrow. Like the odds you chalked up, I think it's more likely he wins than not.

Would be no harm at all to see Pyromaniac win and bring some of this to light.
The ruling was a joke, acknowledging that the horse had problems but then banning the horse...... It was either hooky or it was not and it should have been a plain vanilla conclusion, but it left the review process wide open.
Foxrock ran in the PP chase and then won in Leopardstown when he should have been on a holiday.
Fame and Glory won a Group 3 and then the Tatts Gold Cup when he could easily have been on a holiday after his first effort that year, but no enquiry was called.
There are plenty more incidents like this including numerous Coolmore appeals that escape my memory at the moment (including allowing horses to run in England).
Having the horse win would at least force the whole laughable situation to be highlighted in front of the not so regular viewers and paper audience.

There was a golden highway in Navan the day The Gurkha won his maiden. He goes on any ground for me but prefers it good.
Tony Martin has introduced the lads with wigs into racing and that can only end one way.

G.Gold looks the value imo, he acts on the track, has won on gd to fm the condictions he'll likely face today . The Gurkha on the other hand has NEVER won under these condictions dispite what some knobhead says , its also a fact that we won't know till AFTER the race if he acts on the track . I can see Frankie leading them a merry dance and winning by 2 ...I have taken some of the 5/2 avalible on here...

One reason I don't fancy The Gurkha is that he seems to need to be shown open ground before he starts to motor, and he takes time to get into top gear. Goodwood might be too interesting for him, unless he comes very wide. If Ryan Moore keeps him at the back of the field again he might hit traffic.

Another reason for opposing him is the drop in trip ,the horse is been asked too many questions over various trips , he had a tough race at San no matter what AOB says , and I can see it taking its toll..

"It was quicker than the official description of good when he won the French 2,000 Guineas so impressively" "But he looked and felt top-class on quick ground over a mile at Deauville, and hopefully those are the conditions that he will get on Wednesday afternoon"

Why Workrider Tobywong? It would be more in your line to send a letter to the sources that gave the ground as soft and not trying to score a cheap point off the person that referenced that.(ATR and the sporting life for at least two)

Any Clerk Of The Course would call an airport runway good/firm and the Thames good/soft. I never bother with reported descriptions, although will look at Turftrax, or the times of all races on a card as a group.

Aiden know what it takes to win the race, Giant's Causeway, Rock Of Gibraltar, Henrythenavigator and, most recently, Rip Van Winkle in 2009, all won the Group 1 event for Ballydoyle. I will be surprised if The Gurkha is beat today 2/1 looks a excellent bet for the horses fav trip. Aiden says the horse is in great shape for today.

If you are reading the Racing Post website articles it goes like this
Headline: The Gurkha in great shape ahead of Sussex bid (unattributed) Article header: The Gurkha in top shape ahead of Sussex bid (Tony O'Hehir) Article: he's in good form and we're happy with him (Aidan O'Brien)
Perhaps the headline writers are training the horse?

The going was on the fast side of good although it was watered which explains what they were kicking off during the race.
French going descriptions can be miles out especially some of the descriptions that they return from Auteuil.

That was an underwhelming display despite the victory.
Maybe the number of quick races might have taken a little bit of the edge off him.
A very decent colt but has still not confirmed that he is the star he looked at Deauville, but there is time yet.
Breeders Cup mile will be interesting even if Limato could be a threat in that if he runs and stays.

The horse got himself into some state before the start yet his class got him through,he looks an out an out miler to me and exactly what Coolmore want.

I beg your pardon Tubby! thats the last thing I'd call anyone , a friend of mine had that terrible accusation made against him by a 10 yo who later admitted she'd made it up .Sadly for him his life is in ruins , his wife and children have left him , and all on the say so of a child . I seem to remember you saying something about my granddaughter that was unkind to say the least , but I never called you that , if you like bring it up and I'll apoligise unreservedly...
