Re opening post , assuming it is true , 5 points in total between two first division teams in any county is terrible . Any game where there are few scores becomes boring , it is part of the reason I don't follow soccer much . Defensive play can be of interest in an individual capacity , but as a system it stultifies any game . Trouble is none of those in charge at present seem to care if we get bored by team tactics and possession football . Feel I am a voice crying in the wilderness though , and it is simple to fix . Change the hand pass criteria !

I'd say it has been the worst Hurling and Football championship in living memory. The only game I have enjoyed really has been Galway showing true grit against Clare.
The Tipp/Clare football stories have been good (Munster football is underrated), but they're playing in front of minuscule crowds and it has made for at least one very lop-sided looking quarter final. The GAA needs to look at how it is marketing and putting together the qualifiers. People don't care.
The good thing is that the Football championship semi-finals have thrown up some epic duels in recent years & the Dubs are a real treat to watch.

I dont know if you remember Niell the Bishop used to throw in the ball for the Munster final, and before that Faith of our fathers was sung by the 60,000 fans, i dont think we will ever get back to those days.

Thank goodness the dungeons fire and sword are a thing of the past , but the style of football has changed , not for the better . The public I suspect are voting with their feet , it will be interesting to see total attendances / average attendances for the series come end September . From what I have seen on TV so far , there have been very few games I would have been happy to have paid in at the gate . Shame , because the GAA does a brilliant job in social terms for communities all over the island , football at county level has been letting the side down though in my view .

Watched the Donegal vs Cork match last night , switch McBrearty and Cork win hands down . Overall not a bad game to watch ( and bet on , small ) , but Donegals 15 behind the ball game is not for me . Maybe they need a rule like they have in cricket where field positions are restricted !
This years tactic seems to be "charge the ball , in hand/ hand pass down the middle inviting fouling " . Long ball from defence hardly exists now , anyway the forwards would be outnumbered 2 to 1 by "defenders --wearing all sorts of numbers " .
Various passages of play went on for up to 2 minutes with ball being "recycled" between the fify and the half way line , gave up counting consecutive hand passes . And last nights was not the worst game I have seen recently .
Commentators were saying they cannot remember Croke Park being so quiet during a match , not surprised .
