Dundalk have qualified for the third qualifying round of the Champions League after an away goals win over FH in Iceland.[2-2] Stephen Kenny's side will now face BATE Borisov, who eliminated them at this stage last year, in the third qualifying round.

This wasn't because of complicated algorithms I had to devise. There is a simplicity to the league table in football and my eyes. Dundalk & Cork City are well ahead of the rest of the league. On the most basic scale, Cork City swapped Dennehy Bros. with Kenny Brown & Greg Bolger.  Those that are conversant with the league will get the maths. One would think that the Dublin clubs with the largest population and one of the best underage leagues in Europe would have the best senior clubs, but no, us culchies somehow manage to outperform these clubs again and again. |

Cork The Mardyke Cork City The Mardyke Cork Alberts Flower Lodge Cork Athletic The Mardyke Cork Bohemians Turners Cross Cork Celtic Turners Cross Cork Hibernians The Mardyke Cork United The Mardyke I seem to remember Evergreen Utd Played at Turners cross a few moons ago as well, Was Albert Rovers a League of Ireland teams as well Applehunter ? Cork City last won the league of ireland in 2005. |

If Dundalk were at home in the second leg I would have fancied them strongly, it's a huge factor and playing the second leg away from home is a big blow imo

Hopefully they do the business ..Applehunter, watched bits of the game during the racing at Leop last night,they tore ye apart down the left hand side. Surprised the manager didn't try and stop them by closing them down much higher up the pitch...

There is plenty of Polish people living in Ireland, Legia Warsaw BEAT St Pats 5-0 in Tallaght 2years ago after Pats drew 1-1 in Poland, The Polish fans were making more noise then the Pats fans, Legia hammered Celtic in the next rd only to be throw out for bringing on a sub near the end of the game that was illegel, Dundalk will find the Poles a tough nut to crack.

John Caulfied erred Thursday night vs Genk by playing McSweeney at RB, the key decision over the 2 legs. Give him a pass on that due to injuries but tonight he deserves all the criticism he gets.
Another bottle job tonight IMO a bigger game vs Sligo. What a chance to put some pressure on Dundalk. Tim Flowers! |

Fran Gavin guested on RTE's Soccer Republic at 12.30am on Tuesday night to give the FAI's take on the controvery over the €5k grant towards strategic funding for LOI clubs. Has to be seen to be appreciated. The look of indignation and anger in Brian Kerr's face was fantasitic as a LOI supporter. |

Just watched this Reb,seems the funding is a peace offering , the size of it is laughable as the lads said , they took in over 61,000 in fines last year alone ,so you don't have to be a maths teacher to work out it cost them 39,000 overall , shamefull imo , some of the LOI grounds would embarreass a third world country...

Was at Aviva lastnight,total shambles organisation wise,one small ticketmaster caravan about half a mile from ground,ffs then not enough turnstiles open,lots fans getting in after 25m of game,mess
Pity dundalk didnt attack a bit more,real lack of pace in team,Warsaw fans outsinging dundalk also,lovely venue pity about the amatuerish setup,the Q at ticketmaster a good half hour long. |

i watched it last night.i thought dundalk got rode big time by the ref(as always is the case with minnows,ask eoin hand)..the penalty was a scandal of boxing judge proportions.whats the lad supposed to do? he didnt even see the ball as it approached him.his arm wasnt in an unnatural position..and dundalk had a stonewall peno when kilduff was taken down. a 1/1 draw would have been a fair result i think..though hadjuk never really threatened the dundalk goal too much..as it is the tie is over

True harsh penalty but dundalk missed chance by not being positive enough imo,midfield looked clueless and big gaps between midfield and striker
Chance missed as they had 30k people there and ok keep it cagey for first half but must show more intent on getting a goal Warsaw much more composed and shaped etc |

Given the away goals rule, Dundalk and Kenny would have been quite happy with a scoreless draw from last night's game and the team, rightly, was set up and played accordingly. Legia, also, wouldn't have been dismayed by a 0-0. The penalty changed everything though.
This thread was set up in praise of Dundalk and they have done remarkably well in qualifying for the lucrative group stages of the Europa League. |
