my theory as to why ex flay jocks dont make great trainers (not ruling johnny out yet, too early ) is that 20 odd years of starvation takes its toll........they must be wrecked.

Defiantly different ball game even though you go through getting horses ready through gallops ,getting them ready for races you would think it is the next step ,the likes of Piggott Eddery you would think after all they saw through different trainers they would have been able to make it when training

lINKS...........there are many ex jump jocks who made good trainers..........i dont see the same thing happening with the flat jocks............its got to be all that starving...........if u are getting up at 5am every morning for 20 odd years and eating nothing but a salad sambo all day.........it has to take a long term toll.........jump jocks could eat more. training horses is not a passive excercise..........aidan o'brien doesnt drink or gamble and he certainly doesnt chase the females........he probably prefers horses and its paying off.

when you do have the horse it is snapped up ,gone to the Bigger owners where money talks, go back hoping to get something again than can beat an ApoB in the Curragh first time out which dosent happen very often
