According to French newspaper Nice-Matin, the former France winger was operated on having been taken to a Monaco hospital by helicopter “in a catastrophic state†after collapsing during a football match on the French Riviera on Thursday.

“Always be careful, the next few hours will be critical, but the operation went well and, given his age, there is hope,†said a source quoted by the newspaper. He added that the former Newcastle and Tottenham player has been lucky to have been taken care of quickly because “his case is extremely serious.â€

I'll connect my Irish boot to your hole if that helps.

Now get busy with a monologue Ceefax-esque thread on the Irish Open, designed, presumably, to cater those without internet access.

All the best to David, could happen to any of us.

Could probably make a very good 11 out of the players that have fallen out with the French FA in the last 30 years. Prime Ginola was really something. Could pulverise lerrers. Wonder if they found him under a pile of women. Always thought that would be the way
