I am hearing on the grapevine that you backed Ferrer at 2-1 down in the second set as you could see that Istomin was about to injure himself.

I also believe that you had the wherewithal to send your soliders into the Paddy Power shops and back Istomin as a cover, given that it would be voided once he gave up.

That should give you plenty of firepower to back the winner of the Irish Open on Sunday evening.

Best Wishes & Congratulations to the Irish Soros, from Wee Rory xxx

P.S I once played Golf with the nephew of your Postman.

Strange , when I dream of Rory I think of a golfer with the best swing in the world  , playing the best golf courses in the world . Guess that's the difference ( partly) between myself and Ozy.

Conditions look set up for the afternoon starters with the rain easing and the course being soft.

Rory will probably take it apart and 15/2 for First Round Leader is probably decent enough but I will go 40/1 Bello, 55/1 Pieters and maybe 25/1 Willet. 3.87 allowed with Ireland's biggest so a dash to the shops needed. I wish I had a team in place like yourself.

Temlett , have not been in a pp shop since punchestown , no point , no value . Some of them have had to go BOG  I believe to try and stay in the race up here , but BOG is mainly useful when you start from a decent base price .

Rory at 9/2 would be interesting if you could get on , doubt he will be that for long before he starts , given the relatively poor scoring to date .

Since the merger with betfair  PP have givin poor value for the punters, cutting  the odds for the Golf to 1/5 was very Insulting for golf fans, I might be getting the the red card on the irish forum for saying this but the truth must be told.

I don't agree with the poor press PP are getting here for the 1/5 odds 7 places in the golf.

Its the punters choice if they want the 7 places, or the typical 1/4 5 places(only SJ were going 6 places this week in America). They are basically offering something different to the rest, and its an excellent idea IMO. I have bet more with them in recent months than in years previous. If an ice cream van in a busy spot offers a 40% larger 99 than everyone else, you can hardly expect it for the same price?? They are offering a different product.

Buy it,... don't buy it. They are cornering more of the market share than they would if they went with the status quo.

Their prices have also been more competitive in the last 6/8 weeks.

Prior to their 1/5 7 places, pp were 1/4 6 places. For punters this is a backwards step and it is a sneaky move ....one extra place in a field of 156 players but a reduction of 25% on place terms. Nasty business
Report pa lapsy May 20, 2016 11:17 AM BST
A fair few just do first 5 so i wouldn't be too critical with 1/5 1-7 myself.
Currently though they are 1/4 1-3 and have been for the last couple of hours, every other single book is 4 places albeit a 1/5,
that is mean and cost cutting and no excuse for them there.
Report callitasucit May 20, 2016 11:46 AM BST
That smacks a bit of the old..."Cant do right for doing wrong" though, doesn't it??

They get slated for offering Two extra places than is the norm at 1/5 odds.

Now apparently there is 'no excuse' for offering One place less at 1/4 odds, when everyone else is 1/5.

Again, what they are doing is offering a different option to punters. Surely it's a good thing? No one is forced to take their prices or conditions. Give me choice any day of the week.

Thr only irish based bookie who are giving 1/4odds the 1st 5 are laddies [money back if an irish player wins]   PP were giveing 1/4 odds 1st 6 in any of the big tournements before the present set up,  Firstimevisor has it right.
Report callitasucit May 20, 2016 1:36 PM BST
In the Byron Nelson only SJ were 6 places. Everyone else were 5.

The 5 place firms boosted the place terms for the Irish Open. Just because PP were going 6 places 1/4 odds previously, doesn't mean they always have to. I used to get a pint for 2 pound. Workrider probably got one for a shilling. Things change. At the moment PP offer is 1/5 odds 7 places, and there is absolutely nothing wrong, sneaky, mean, cost cutting or otherwise about it.

I don't like to repeat myself, its fairly simple, so twil be the last I say on it.

WE beg to differ Paddy , o sry i mean Callit
Report firstimevisor May 20, 2016 2:23 PM BST
They offered 1/4 odds 1st 6 for some considerable time before the current place terms. This was indeed a fair offer and the best ew terms of all the high street bookies.

However when the less generous 1/5 odds 7 places was introduced it was sold to the public as an even better offer than previous...."Now Paying 7 Places" etc and shamelessly promoted by pp's friends in the press.
Report pa lapsy May 20, 2016 2:40 PM BST
Not too long after i pointed out above they were only going 3 places,it was almost as if the forum was read and they went with the rest of the books to 4 places soon after.(why not anyway with 2 players at 6/4ish midway through 2nd round)

Glad to be of assistance Paddy.

Ps send "Ruby cake" to "Dozy", he'd appreciate that way more than me by his earlier "contribution" to the thread.
