Be The Hero.  God only knows how it managed to win a race.  It should be 25/1 tonight not 2/1.  Elliotts other horse for JP will bolt up without coming off the bridle.

Sharp track fast ground, i couldnt think of a worse combo for Be the Hero!!!!

Should improve for the step up in trip, other 2 main rivals not exactly Kilbeggan types either. That said I don't like his form either, think he had the race won anyway when left in front 2 starts ago but horse who fell in front of him was overrated. I like Hard To Call too, having to take a shorter price than was available last night but he's landed a punt before and his form just looks best.

Great lay, 15/8 out to 5's, it kinda won well however it was a good lay at the price you put up BWS, unlucky as he did not handle the track, unlucky in a way and fair play for putting up.

Rocket , didn't handle the track ? what won ? horses that don't handle the track DON'T win.

It try to run out and never looked comfortable and as Kevin Blake said give it a track that it not as tight and something ti can run at and he could be much better, i t won't run in Kilbeggan ever again.

To be fair to him lads the horse went from 2's out to 5, some drift that if you can't see this sort of tipping is gold in the long run then you're an absolute fool.
Report pa lapsy May 13, 2016 11:14 PM BST
BWS is normally fairly on the ball, plenty thought he wouldn't win with the drift.
Jack Kennedy was a plus in hindsight.
Know Elusive In Paris(6.10) was up in trip and isn't a bit straightforward(also hampered on bend slightly)  but was a very poor effort from the jockey(i'm watching you after Beechwood Whisper), Shukov runnin loose beforehand probably scuppered the idea of a "quiet one" and explained the hardening, the winner did steal the race and stayed a lot better than at Tipp, but still at best a very poor ride.

Laid it to lose 5k!!! Made all the worse by the fact that I had 250 e/w on Call me PJ at 14/1. I'm off too the river!!!

Utter tosh. Check out Seventh Heavens win from last week as a recent high profile example to the contrary.

Unlucky BWS, was about 7.4 last I seen. Keep laying 13-2 shots at 2-1 and I have a funny feeling you will make plenty.

More disturbing is the feeling I have that most on here wouldn't understand that.

I like Bigwilliestyle like all of us he gets some wrong.
His opinions are forthright and strongly stated and are worth heeding.

The reason this place runs out of genuine layers is if you get one wrong you need five right to get it back.

Rocketfingers doesn't understand how a betting market works, this is the gent that thought the horse that was the shortest price favourite on a day was automatically the best backed of the day.
Callitasucit is a horse of a different colour and presume his lapse was caused by his hostility to Workrider
Report callitasucit May 14, 2016 10:20 AM BST
I have to admit, you have lost me there WM.

What 'lapse' do you refer to?

And this is the first I have heard of any 'hostility' I have towards WR!!

If not agreeing with everything he says, or everything anyone says, is hostility....then I'm guilty as charged.

Otherwise I'm in the dark.
Report Rocketfingers May 14, 2016 10:25 AM BST
Not the best at maths are we WM, BWS lays a horse at 2's WM thinks he has to get 5 right to get it back.
Report wildmanfromborneo May 14, 2016 10:31 AM BST
Be The Hero is a bit of a boyo,he has tried to pull himself up before.
Jack Kennedy was brilliant on him.

The gent that priced Be The Hero at 2/1 was just pure wrong.
His correct price to me was around 3/1.
Anyone thinking Bigwilliestyle laid it at 2/1 doesn't get it,there was no money at that price and 'twas Bigwilliestyle caused the drift.
His pursuit of Be The Hero frightened some punters and also got some parasites involved who front ran him.
This accelerated the drift.

I liked CustomCuts contribution,he correctly pointed out Be The Hero last run was decent.
Report wildmanfromborneo May 14, 2016 10:32 AM BST
Only Rocketfingers thinks Bigwilliestyle laid that horse at 2/1.

A fantasist that believes in non existent prices.
Report Rocketfingers May 14, 2016 12:30 PM BST
My word Wildman has lost it, thinks not possible to lay a 15/8 charge at 2's on here and thinks one man can cause a drift Laugh
Report Rocketfingers May 14, 2016 2:42 PM BST
Man puts up a lay bet in the morning, horse trading circa 15/8 - 2/1 the very blunt wildman, and self proclaimed gambling god, takes it he will be giving the SP odds.
Report workrider May 14, 2016 6:21 PM BST
Why would anyone take 15/8 or 2/1 on here about something thats drifting like a BARGE all day ? either they are gobshytes or know NOTHING about horses . Anyone who thinks BWS got a bagfull of suckers to take that price are worse than I thought . Callit the % of horses who don't act on the track and win is about 3% at most .

Well work it out , from 100 horses that don't act on the ground only 3 win , not exactly a money making machine now is it . Did YOU take the 2/1 BWS was offering , I hope not ...Devil

the man gave a opinion, backed his opinion and lost, we all do it, jenkins lost me a packet @punchestown, so much so that i left the game alone for 2weeks..it happens, opinions are what we are here for, some work some dont, horses make fools of all of us at times..but its the game we love.

This reads like a Roald Dahl extract but not surprising considering the eurovision thread.

Just because someone puts up a lay at 2/1, doesn´t mean that it´s remotely possible to lay at that price.

The bet was not struck at 2/1 or anyone near it for whatever it was struck for. Where and when was the lay struck? No one lays those figures on here anymore as it´s not feasible.

Who in their right mind uses expressiions such as lay of the year (Pure BS) and who highlights it on a prominent forum if they´re genuinely intending to lay it for 5k. Why subsequently name figures on an anonynomous forum and then a poster suggests that big mickey is completetly altering the exchange markets.
Report dj876 May 15, 2016 9:52 PM BST
Give me cyncism any day over breathtaking naivety

On both threads we saw quoutes of "will bolt up without coming off the bridle" and a country "will hack up" in a singing contest.

Why would you start a thread on laying a horse before a real bean was layed and then claim to have layed it for a liabilty of 5k. Seems idiotic to me, any alternative explanation?

Anyone on here (laying for those amounts) would be on premium charge and hence leaves the puple where there is only any liquidity at race time and if a previous poster is to be believed such is the esteem that BWS is held in that this op cost him a grand or two  by the vultures getting in beforehand.

FFS,give me strength if hard nosed punters are falling for the likes of these two threads!
Report wildmanfromborneo May 15, 2016 10:45 PM BST
I respect Dj876 and agree with him that the Eurovision thread is an embarrassment especially for me.

I also accept he's a modern gambler that uses new equipment and new ideas but to me his impatience and lack of grace let him down here.

I get people discussing figures bug him,I don't know why.
Its Bigwillstyles style to be emphatic and in fairness his reasoning is generally good.

Dj876 starts his criticism correctly and is right but he then goes astray with his last line.
" and then a poster suggests that big mickey is completely altering the exchange markets "

Its not the identity of the layer that causes the drift its the size of his lay.
Dj876 correctly identifies the lack of liquidity early on,that leads to huge suspicion when big lays are put up..

However his worst statement comes in his second post and is incomprehensible to me.

" Anyone on here ( laying for these amounts ) would be on premium charge "

Why  ?
Surely the opposite is the case.

I'm no fan of these "headline" grabbing threads myself and slated them many times before.
In mitigation to the two posters concerned both are very very knowledgeable, BWS's selections in the past year are spectacular,
no fluke, it is a very in depth knowledge of Irish racing.
I won't dispute the market is all but dead on here til quite late,it is now following the bookmakers.
Keen Leader put up the in famous "Santa-bot", what a feckin free for all that was, there was also the "dirty ew thread" if i remember rightly and for my part i believe both act in good faith, both i think are also professional.

Premium charge is on commission generated and doesn't matter whether you are a 2e punter or 2k except the tier could be different.
