Idaho looks a cracking bet here. Freely available at 9-4 last night, that has been cut slightly, but the 2-1 still looks far too big.

Done at 1.01 last time out, he ran better than even the form book suggests. Beginning his move wide on the crown of he bend, he was forced even wider by his wayward stablemate. Committed then in the hottest part of the race, off a good gallop it was always likely such a premature effort would tell late on.

He was ran down by Harzand, who at this stage is thought to be a better beast than the one DKW supplies in opposition today.

Ryan Moore rides Shogun, who doesn't appear good enough, but seemed to confuse the market slightly because of the jockey arrangements.

Fast ground would have been a worry for Idaho, but the rain that has fallen the last two nights, and that is due today more than allay those fears.

I expect a decent performance today, one which may make him Derby favourite.

A intricate race with many possibilities, AOB has kept his cards close to his chest as usual . Timmizi is highly thought of by the Weld camp and could be anything ,one who seems to have been dismissed by all and sundry is Ventura Storm , Hannon knows what it takes to win over here . Bolgers horses are starting to find their  form and Jim is always one to keep on side .AOB seems to hold a strong hand , but this is more open than first thought . I may end up laying Idaho and will wait till nearer race time and seeing them in the paddock before deciding . A puzzle worth solving though.

I agree with the opening poster and would nominate Now Or Never with Idaho for a Derrinstown double that's available at 8/1.

I'm assuming the ground is slow side of good at a minimum.

Custom Cut proved very disappointing today ,looked really well in the ring but found little when asked , something amiss I'd guess . Now Or Never looked really well in the paddock as did Siamsaiocht ,travelled like a dream and was very impressive . Kind of Magic will find it hard to win a listed race imo ,a poor looker and lacking scope. Ended up laying Idaho ,he got a little warm and was on his toes for most of the prelims ,but the winner was a stunning looker and he was showing @ 9 on here but instead of backing him I laid the fav , one of those results were it was like backing a loser. Cole Porter looked well ,someone in the know told me earlier he wouldn't be beat ,I missed all the big prices and ended up taking 9/10 ,Moore from the front is proving a treat .

Bit of a turn around from your thread "is there a worse jockey riding than ryan moore" nonsense a few days ago
This quote is a classic "Can't for the life of me catch this clown ,if I back him he's beat, lay him a he produces a masterclass. Seems to either nailed  it or completley make a horlicks of things . He might be the greatest for some , but for me he's average at best ."

Admits he produces masterclasses but still considers him average

EVERY jock produces masterclasses , Moores rides from the front this week has been his best ,  I still think he's over rated . If he can't give masterclasses on the kind of horses he rides , a huge amount of Group runners thanks to AOB then what chance do others have .

I can empathise with you Workrider regarding Moore, maybe a bit harsh knocking him on Shogun as he finished well on what looks a complete stayer but just a bit far back.
Shamie was worse on Idaho, the horse put his head back in mitigation turning in and didn't let down til late as well but there was a bit left in the tank.

Having watched him in the paddock Pa , I'd say he could be a horse,Idaho that is ,that could get lit up easily ,he just might be doing things a little to quick for his own good ,as you say did all his best work at the finish...

When I say doing things too quick for his own good , by that I mean hes fighting for his head a lot , and wanting to get on with it , thereby using up energy that could be used at the business end of things..

Moore is an absolutely top quality pilot, the best there is. Makes so very very few errors.

If he rode Idaho today, I imagine it would have won. Had we got the rain before racing, rather than after, he would have won with Seamie too. Poor ride, compounded by again getting hung wide on the very apex of the curve of the bend.

Though it could all just be my fault, as I backed Waterford too!!(sorry if that constitutes after timing Gobshee!)

Not sure Workrider, just from 2f to 1f out looked still a bit green and immature to me,i could be wrong.

Say a combo of still a bit green, and maybe not quite fully letting himself down on ground.

A soft ground St Leger may be his cup of tea.

Leger looks easier than the Derby to solve even now all the same, Harzand would love a soft Doncaster too.
Nothing exceptional amongst the colts imo this year, don't like fav Midterm at all but an awful job finding one.
Surely they will think long and hard giving Minding a run in it.

The workings of a punters mind eh, Callit praising Moore to high heavens , and saying he would have won on either horse, blaming the pilot for Idaho not winning , not a mention of the exact same ride Moore gave C.Mountain in the second .. Way out of his ground , and yes came WIDE off the home turn , such is racing...

Deor at Roscommon this evening is a major drifter 3.9-5.6 very quickly, shorter trip alright but did it so easy a few days ago.
Hope you aren't up to anything naughty Brian.
Could also be C Byrnes could be having a punt.
Queen Alphabet is disappointing but surely she won't have a better chance than this.

Not sure why you say that after Saturday, right it did beat a mid 140,s chaser but 16L back to 70 rated Do Try Dolly isn't bad, stronger and more consistent field over shorter alright but unless a Byrnes gamble takes place it will be around 5/2 and not the 5.5 (for small) that was there earlier.
Could well "bounce" running again so quickly and you are long odds on you will be right it is beaten but if you want to stick up a few £ at 5.5 i,ll take it.

Race fell apart in wexford for it, had numerous chances before then to win boat races and always found a way not to win.

Its making the market and have played numbers 12, 14 and 15 in it.

Fair enough.
My worry would be i'm not a fan of the owner, trying to pick words carefully i often thought his could run better.
We,ll see, i did back it and for small enough because of above and Byrnes, interesting race for a Monday evening.

Pa thought Snapper would have been willing to accommadate you by putting up the  pieces of silver , seeing as he says its a dog!. Surely easy money for the Snapper...?

To be fair i was asking for too much WR,it was shorter.
Last person that said one had "no chance" to me on here was Annie Power in cham hur.

If its a dog its a dog Pa, ain't those the kind bookies lay all day long ,if he thinks it can't win then ANY price is a GOOD price.

I think the pin just landed on that one, could easily have been "fill your boots","wheelbarrow job" or "half the track" or something like that.
