No bet or interest in this race myself , unusually as I can often see profit in such a race . The fact that B/f was down was probably a factor though . I watched the race , unaware of SP's or market moves . Would have thought MTOY was likely to beat the others with the possible exception of Vroom Vroom , who could be very good and who had that winning habit unlike MTOY with loads of seconds in his record . MTOY ran poorly at Aintree though , Annie Power made him look very ordinary . Identity thief ran like a pig at Cheltenham , never travelled or got into race , and it was a relatively short price there at 8/1 in the CH . Willie has all the keys though in the top class hurdling arena at present , reckon it was just a case of whatever he put out in the race was going to win .
Heard commentators talk about bounce factor re MTOY after the race , horse ran very flat , but who knows what the market moves indicated , who backed Vroom Vroom , or was it just market adjustment in what someone figured out was a 2 horse race . MTOY was never a 6/4 shot in my book though , it was 2/1 everywhere I saw odds posted from early morning and 9/4 on here on my piece of paper with all the odds for Punchestown from morning time . Koshari was another gamble too , over 3/1 early and generally available . Beat the alleged form horse , stable companion . Big change from the 33/ 1 it was when winning its last race albeit in France . One paper I saw noted that Bello Conti "looks a good hurdler , but nothing special, one to beat down in class ". Not a great race I suspect . No bet here , again surprising , but reckon site outage a big factor in that . |

Fair point about Betfair being down.
MTOY just ambled around was never put under any pressure. Koshari looked a racehorse to me,the race might not have been much but I loved the way he won, another champion for Willie and Ricci. Wonder what Gigginstown thought of that race. |

Again with my stewards hat on I would follow the run of Anibale Fly today with interest, his run at Leopardstown was worthy of the Limerick punishment.

VVM was bang on 2.0 on daq at 17.17pm.
Can't comment too much on he drift of MTOY as i wasn't taking a lot of notice. Could be possible he travelled over badly? On form ought to have been in front of Identity Thief but was up against the potential in VVM. Team Mullins tactics were i thought brilliant, MTOY was always on the back foot with them, BG only option was to lose ground by going around turning in,he hadn't the horse in any case. |

They knew he had two hard enough races at Cheltenham and Aintree, knew he wasn't himself.
They brought him over to retire or rest him ( I presume ) but all this guff about taking care of your horse went out the window when they saw the financial opportunity. They grabbed it with open arms. I have no doubt who punted Vroum Vroum Mag,it wasn't Sidney Greenstreet or his hangers on. |

Wildmanfromborneo 100% is correct , I know of a trainer who curses the day he ever let a certain owner into his yard . Is it simply kindness to others that this man has horses in most yards, I think not . Lets pose a hypothetical question , lets say I have a horse in your yard whos fav for a race or second fav even , trainer tells me mine is not going great atm , its a 6 runner race we'll say , the market says its 6/4 mine ,thats roughly 40% of the market give or take the odd movement early . So mine is not going great and the other one is very well fancied ,owner is up front and tells all and sundry hes hoping for the best . Now I can plunge into your horse knowing that the fav is no danger . Simply.

If I were a steward I would retire asap with the best package possible - Pointless exercise . The chap directing traffic in the car park at the course has more of an impact on Irish racing . Although nice to see Anibale getting a win , been a tad unlucky the last twice .
