Just use it to your advantage wildman.

No offense Wildman but if you saw it everyone saw it and the horse will be rated accordingly.
Take the byrnes horse who was stone cold last night. He was a 80 odd horse on flat, ran alright second start and then tailed off last night. He will still rated over 100 when he gets a mark. Handicaper will rate them on flat runs. |

Fair play BWS for educating wildman, i have noticed BWS is a rating specialist and knows what he is talking about.

The handicapper was fooled, his connections had the decency to wait a few months before they ran up their sequence.
Duke Cass will probably return to the flat now. |
|
By:
You seem to have ignored that Duke Cass was beaten after being heavily punted in his first handicap. He was also beaten in his next three handicap hurdles runs.
He won by a head on his return to handicaps after being reassessed so I think the handicapper won’t have too many complaints. |
|

He wasn't heavily punted in Bellewstown.
It seemed to me to be a lot of local support. He was having a look in those earlier handicaps. The point is he was stopped in Ballinrobe and Tipperary, the handicapper who doesn't review races was fooled and gave him a mark way to low. They preserved that low rating knowing that they could run up a sequence when they wanted to. I thought he was a lucky winner at Punchestown but heck it was his fourth win of the year. The handicapper may have no complaints but that's because he is lazy and just presses his rating button. |

You’re wrong Widman and once again have skewed the picture to suit your viewpoint. The following is a synopsis of the horse's hurdles runs;
Four Maiden hurdle runs and qualified for a rating of 97 (no argument he was getting handicapped but no different from thousands of horses, that’s just the game it is) Bellewstown on handicap debut - Punted by owners and beaten into second (raised four pounds) Sligo Maiden hurdle - Wins a bike race and raised seven pounds Ballinrobe Handicap - Beaten into 2nd by Walkabout off 104 (raised three pounds) and also punted by owners Lartigue hurdle (ran from 4 pounds wrong) and Clonmel handicap over three miles (dropped one pound on this run) The horse then returned from a break and was exceptionally well placed by his trainer. He has also clearly raised his form considerably from the summer but you will note that the handicapper reacted every step of the way. The fact he is 1/5 in handicaps (and was fancied in three of them) is in stark contrast to what you have presented above. Should you disagree then you might provide what rating you would have given the horse after his qualifying runs (considering he was placed twice)? Or, alternatively, what mark you would have had him at after each of his summer runs? Given your opinion on the handicapper I am surprised that he has also seen fit not to give a rating to Squouateur. One would have presumed it was simply a case of punching in the rating. Given all the open goal cases of potential handicapping error I am amazed at how you regularly highlight cases where the handicapper has plenty of substance for the ratings given. |

Just because they all do it doesn't make it right.
This was blatant,so blatant the handicapper should have agreed with what I wrote in April and not given him a mark. If anyone is skewing the picture its you, your analysis is after the event mine was done before. |

Willdman take your beating like a man. You have been caught bluffing.
|
|
By:
Where is the bluffing.
I saw Duke Cass getting easies at Ballinrobe and Tipperary and pointed it out at the time. The horse you keep on about is White Arm,I don't know how much its cost you,the difference here is anyone following Duke Cass would be well ahead on the deal. His rating was wrong, the handicapper was fooled. I have to admit though I slept for Duke Cass first win in Limerick. |
|
By:
Wildman you have been put in your place by Tell the King. The horse has won 1 handicap hurdle. It couldnt win a handicap off 94 when wanted in July and your telling us that the handicapper shouldnt have given it a mark.
|
|
By:
Its rated over two stone higher now.
It won in Punchestown carrying 22 pound more than it did at Bellewstown. The handicapper shouldn't have given him a mark til he tried. |
|
By:
The handicapper gave him a mark of 94, after 4 maiden hurdle runs. So he did make him run in an extra Maiden hurdle. He was backed and couldnt win off this mark in Bellewstown. He then won a maiden hurdle in Sligo. So by your reckoning he gave him a mark 1 race too early?
Believe it or not some horses improve with racing. |

Wildman your replies on this thread are a complete nonsense. You made a smugly conceited attempt to resurrect this thread and ended up making complete c*nt of yourself.
The horse had four qualifying runs and the handicapper saw fit to give him a rating (one which he got beaten off). The horse then returned to maiden company and won thus being reassessed. This rendered his initial rating a moot point given he didn’t exploit it. The horse subsequently improved race to race (being regularly punted by connections). His Clonmel run was his eleventh in five months and I suspect the small break before Limerick crowned the horse. The handicapper has reacted every step of the way as the horse has improved. I would wage good money that you not only slept for his first win in Limerick but indeed his entire summer campaign as it seems you are not aware of his form. You initially stated connections effectively fooled around with the horse since he got his rating which is utter drivel. Your analysis is as lazy as the behaviour you accuse the handicapper of. |

Refreshing reading someone knowledgeable taking this bluffer to task
|
|
By:
Maybe my analysis is lazy but so what,I'm not paid, the handicapper is paid.
I backed Duke Cass in all his wins bar the time he was the biggest price,I did so on the basis he was wrongly rated. In fairness its a rare victory for me but I still think in this instance I called his runs in Ballinrobe and Tipperary correctly. TellTheKing is commenting in hindsight as is Bigwillystyle in this instance. |

By:
Wildman I suggest you stop digging any deeper. It’s more nonsense to say I am speaking in hindsight. It’s just a meaningless sentence that has no context in this discussion. If anything you are aftertiming given you let the thread lie after he got his rating. There was no comment from you until many months later when the horses reappeared and brought his form to a new level.
No-one is saying the horse wasn’t off in his qualifying runs. However, this still lead to the horse getting a mark he was beaten off. Therefore, the handicapper was clearly justified in his opening mark. The horse has improved markedly since his return in December. If he was the horse in the summer that he is now then please explain how he was beaten in several handicaps off lower ratings? It’s certainly wasn’t because he was stopped anyway. It is clear you are beating the ratings drum when in fact the horse has only collected one handicap which occurred eight months and as many runs after you opened this thread. |

One thing wildman about his ballinrobe race.It was his third run in 13 days.Just 4 days after his win at sligo on heavy going.
|
|
By:
That was a different Ballinrobe run,the blatant one was in April when he was second to Bringerofthedawn.
The thread was a complaint against the handicapper,an exhortation for him not to be fooled. In my opinion he was fooled. TellTheKing is a defender of the handicapper and makes legitimate points unfortunately with rancour but legitimate all the same. The facts he can't get over is in April I said the horse would get a rating that was too low,he got a rating of 94. He has won four races and is now rated nearly two stone higher. |
