Time to take away the licence fee from RTE

They must celebrate now when they lose those bids for the sporting events - it means they have more to waste on whatever they please.

Cant believe they sent someone out to interview an adjudged criminal in Peru , reckon someone just wanted to see the llamas or whatever . Some locals here knew what the result of the court case was going to be when the news first broke , and generally there is no smoke without fire .

Only good news associated with the story is that apparently she wont be able to come home for some time yet , maybe RTE should have held their powder for another 4 years or so .

Have my own views on legalisation of drugs , sometimes think it might be better if the whole supply was taken out of the hands of the drug barons , evidence being that actions to date have proved ineffective .  But thats an aside for someone who knew they were breaking the law big time especially in a foreign country .

I feel sorry for the girl, it's not as if she was a criminal or anything of the kind.
Plenty young people fall into bad company and end up getting involved in situations that they shouldn't have had.
She was a tiny player in a operation , a mule or a pawn , whatever you like to call it . What she did was maybe wrong but in my opinion it's no big deal. It's not as if she's own her own , she's one of thousands who do it , and mostly with little or no reward . She has been foolish but at the end of the day , she isn't a bad sort. She has paid her dues and deserves a go at a new life. She has spent nearly 4 years in some rat infested khazi jail in whatever dump it was , I for one think she has been harshly treated . There are people doing much worse every day of the week over here and getting away relatively Scot free.

What a load of bawlixx that is wonks, if they didn't make cigarettes there would be less people die from cancer, if they didn't sell drink there would be no alcoholics, if there was no gambling companies then there would be no problem gamblers .
People make a choice to take drugs and no young girl is going to make the slightest difference to that .

We can start with innocent,in no sense of the word was this lady innocent,she was in her words a " dancer "

The paltry suggests she wasn't paid enough as if it was some straight forward business deal.

She deserved everything she got. Peru deserve credit for giving her 6 years. In ireland she'd have gotten a slap on the wrist and "community service" with the usual faces calling for her "Human rights" to be respected etc....

The only pity was she didn't do this in Indonesia etc...

If anyone wants to bellyache about abuse of drugs, stand outside any doctor's surgery at 9am on a Monday morning and see the number of green sheets being paraded 30 minutes afterwards. This holier-than-thou anti-mule sentiment is complete nonsense with the accepted level of legal substance abuse here. If our legal system had any merit there would be camps full of undesirables with 50-100 previous convictions and I wouldn't have to step out of their way on daily basis.

I've one issue with all this media attention: the woman in question is herself from a foreign country but somehow we have news reporters who have decided otherwise. Man bites dog in Lisburn...yawn, ****ing yawn

There are minks scouring the countryside terrifying old people in their homes, there are families in every town in the country who are holding their areas to ransom, and theres nothing being done about in most instances.
Bringing in drugs is no big deal in relation to other crimes, particularly violent ones. With the demand for these drugs, and the money involved, you can be certain that the people involved are going to get them in, no matter what way they do it.

Go away will ya, knakkers dont need drugs to commit crimes, they are perfectly capable of looting and rampaging without any help.
