Annie Power will be in splendid isolation between the last two hurdles.
Ruby's head will be frazzled.
Odds on punters will have their eyes covered.
Some bookies will be watching in anticipation
All punters will get the significance.

I'm not saying she will fall but she won't jump it cleanly.

There is a mental thing going on.
Its not quite dartitis or the yips but its getting close.

Mike Atherton could be an example.
He was the British opening batsman that couldn't play Glen McGrath,
MCGrath kept getting him out in the same way,he never once hit his wicket he always got caught behind.
Report snap crackle and pop February 17, 2016 10:33 AM GMT
Laid black hercules coming to the last on Sunday, just given Ruby's recent record and all that
Report workrider February 17, 2016 10:54 AM GMT
FFS Snap, its worse you're getting,I'm starting to lose the little respect I had for you .
Report wildmanfromborneo February 17, 2016 10:55 AM GMT
I think this problem will cause Ruby to retire,I'd say its killing him.

I'm in a minority in that I like both Ruby and his family so I say this more in sadness than anything else.
Report workrider February 17, 2016 11:04 AM GMT
He seems to have aged remarkably quickly in recent months, He's never been my fav jockey, mainly because of his attitude to punters, but hes the BEST I've ever seen .  It would be sad beyond belief if he became remembered as the jockey who fell at the last.
Report snap crackle and pop February 17, 2016 11:11 AM GMT
Remember callit saying he jumped very low, almost hurdling his fences, that coupled with Ruby's recent record was enough to make me hit the lay button as he approached the last.

Thankfully it worked out ok.

What do ya mean "giving his recent record and all that" Snap?

Valseur Lido and who, Killultagh Vic maybe, give us a few more please.

Just last fence Snap as that was the basis for Black Hercules.

Report snap crackle and pop February 17, 2016 11:21 AM GMT
Well he hadn't fallen all the way around so the only opportunity left to lay was when he approached the last obstacle you halfwit
Report winsamsoon February 17, 2016 11:23 AM GMT
Since January 1, 2005, Walsh has suffered 68 falls or unseats at the last, 31 of which came when in contention for a win.

That compares with 48 for both McCoy and Richard Johnson, with 24 coming in contention for McCoy and only 13 for Johnson.

From a total of 6,505 rides in the period in question, Walsh comes a cropper at the last in 1.04 per cent of his rides, compared to 0.53 per cent for McCoy (9,085 rides) and 0.51 per cent for Johnson (9,474).
Report pa lapsy February 17, 2016 11:24 AM GMT
"Halfwit" and what about the rest of the flights beforehand, of course he jumped them, idiot of the highestest order and reduced to very poor aftertiming., give it a rest.

Wildman, your a funny guy-its out of love for Ted and Ruby you suggest Rupert has lost his bottle, however temporarily.

Brian O'Connor this week:
A noted colleague has pitched the idea of a levy on either winning bets — say one per cent — and/or a percentage from winning prizemoney on races worth a certain amount — say €100,000 and more — going to the Injured Jockeys Fund. This he argues would provide a regular flow of income to a fund which would be available in case of emergency rather than having volunteers financially fire-fighting. Is he right?

He certainly makes a lot more sense than those peddling the line that Ruby Walsh might be experiencing some psychological block about final fences. As steaming piles of horse manure go, this is a beauty. Black Hercules’ Navan fall is being added to the Valseur Lido spill in the Irish Gold Cup as supposed evidence of, well, I’m not sure; maybe a classic example of two and two makes a theory.

I agree with Wildman....the higher the profile mount, the easier the expected victory, the prestige of the contest.....the nagging thought: "do I pop, go long, make up his/her mind or let the horse do the work?"

as for snap.....I'm lookin' forward to the betting advice (or any other) before the white flag......he has the game by the balls but the squeal is his own

I don't think he has lost his bottle I think he is developing a mental block
It's sad because all seem to acknowledge his brilliance
Report Arklearkle February 17, 2016 12:47 PM GMT
The problem with the bare stats is plenty of jockey's mounts dont jump the last.
Report mrtopnotch February 17, 2016 12:55 PM GMT
There is no issue, he is a brilliant jockey. A non story imo

Semper Medici Tony, not good enough, Mullins was fairly open with regards Annie for CH, even now at 2/1 nrnb looks a dare i say it good thing if she lines up.
No probs with Ruby today and the 2nd 2 were ridden very positively(WD BWS with Bellow Mome).
Report mincer11 February 17, 2016 5:33 PM GMT
Annie Power is a million if she runs in the Champion hurdle, a million zillion , thats what she is.
She has no line of form that gives her a prayer in that race.
Report pa lapsy February 17, 2016 6:09 PM GMT
She is rated 162,got against mares admittedly, there is one line Mincer going back,it is a bit tenous but the beating of Defy Logic(and those behind) was scintillating.
Artic Fire maybe,Nicholls Canyon doubt it, both beatable,English challengers look very average this season. What good is the mares really, the world hurdle is surely thistlecrack on what we have seen, not sure is there much choice really.
She will flake off and stay, forget form.
I think she is good enough but up to the man himself.
Report workrider February 17, 2016 6:32 PM GMT
She jumped well, she was on her toes in the paddock and looked undercooked , sure to come on a ton for that, wouldn't discount her for the C.H. Although if I were Graham I'd be asking  Willie to rum mine in it now that Fagheen is out . Laid Fagheen for the C.H. @ 6/4 I'm never happy to see a horse injuried though, pm'd a couple on here and gave them the reason I was laying it ,sadly I am been proved right.
Report Tolmi February 17, 2016 9:44 PM GMT
She got a rating of 165 after beating Zarkander and was dropped to 162 after her defeat by More of That.None of her mares only race form would enable her to be rated much beyond 150.The lack of quality in the opposition would prevent any higher rating being given.

Her likely presence in the Champion in what is an average renewal will surely polarise opinion. She would want softish ground but in receipt of the allowance she has to have a live chance but it's a very hard race to assess. That said I would imagine her adjusted RP rating would be very close to the highest in the race with the possible exception of the returning My Tent or Yours.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 18, 2016 12:31 AM GMT
By right artic fire should now be fav, thousand stars mark II now that Faugheen is out of the way he should be at least be favourite.
I like identity thief and wouldn't give up on peace and co yet.
Report pa lapsy February 18, 2016 10:50 AM GMT
It is a shocker of a "champion hurdle" as things stand,no two horses seems to have run two races alike this season.
Think it badly needs the x factor of a Ricci big name ie Annie or though unlikely Vautour.
The big drawback with Annie is Mullins is quoted as saying she could badly do with another race as not yet quite race fit,on that basis i would be wary and on that could understand she hasn't an earthly, very near fit and she has a lot of inconsistent horses to beat, really hope she runs,i couldn't be against her.
Identity Thief one of the very few that looks sure to run his race.
